2022 Chrysler Pacifica Minivan Adds Amazon Fire TV to Backseat Theater Systems
The market for minivans is as competitive as they come. Automakers of some of the most popular minivans have designed their vehicles with special touches to stand apart from the pack. For example, the Limited and Platinum trims of the Toyota Sienna have ottomans for second-row passengers to rest their feet. The Elite trim of the Honda Odyssey includes an 11-speaker audio system with a subwoofer. However, perhaps no minivan beats the Chrysler Pacifica for innovative features, as the 2022 model adds Amazon Fire TV to its backseat!
What you get with a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica
On its own, a Chrysler Pacifica is a great minivan option. The 2022 model is relatively unchanged from the 2021 model and shares its predecessor’s attractive exterior redesign. On the baseline Touring trim, buyers are treated to rain-sensing wipers, power-sliding doors, 17-inch wheels, heated side mirrors, a power liftgate, and LED fog lamps. Additionally, the LED headlights come with automatic high beams as well.
Its powertrain remains the same, with a 3.6-liter V6 engine on each gas-powered model. If you’re looking for speed and fuel economy, the FWD version is superior with a 6.7 second 0-60 mph acceleration time and a 19/28 mpg city/highway rating (compared to the AWD, which takes 8.3 seconds to get to 60 mph and gets a 17/25 mpg city/highway rating). The hybrid version sports the same V6 engine, along with two motors. The Stellantis media site says it hits 60 in 7.4 seconds and can drive more than 30 miles on pure battery power.
The Pacifica has a solid amount of legroom and headroom, as well as cargo space. The cargo hold is 32.2 cubic feet, but thanks to its Stow n’ Go seating, which allows the second and third rows to be both folded down and tucked away into the floor, that cargo volume increases considerably. With the third row down, the Pacifica’s cargo hold expands to 87.5 cubic feet, and with both the second and third rows down, a whopping 140.5 cubic feet.
Satellite radio and a 10.1-inch touchscreen, compatible with Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Apple CarPlay, are standard. The Touring also comes with quite a few safety features, including front automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, rear parking assistance, cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot monitoring.
More about the Amazon Fire TV feature
If you opt for a higher trim level, your Chrysler Pacifica will be tricked out with even more tech and features. For example, you can get heated front seats and window shades on the Touring L for the second and third-row windows, among other upgrades. Elsewhere, with the Limited trim, you’ll ride on 18-inch wheels and take in the sky from your panoramic sunroof while you listen to music from your 13-speaker sound system.
However, it’s on the top-level trim, the Pinnacle, where the Pacifica really shines, entertainment-wise. Not only will your sound system go from 13 to 19 speakers, but your passengers will be treated to a standard rear-seat entertainment system consisting of 10.1-inch seatback-mounted touchscreens. The Pacifica integrates Amazon Fire TV into its Uconnect 5 infotainment system or Uconnect Theater rear-seat entertainment system, so passengers have access to thousands of downloadable games and apps, as well as streaming services.
However, according to AutoTrader, you don’t need to buy the Pinnacle trim level for your passengers to enjoy Amazon Fire TV. You can purchase a UConnect Theater package for the Touring that includes an overhead mounted screen that second and third-row passengers can enjoy. Additionally, you can buy a more expensive package that includes twin seatback-mounted screens for the Touring, Touring L, or Limited trims.
Does the Chrysler Voyager also have an Amazon TV?
Given that Uconnect is a Chrysler entertainment system, you may wonder whether Amazon Fire TV is available in the Chrysler Voyager. The Voyager’s offerings are, after all, formerly lower trims of the Pacifica. In 2020, Chrysler took the Pacifica’s L, LX, and LXi trims and rebranded them as the Voyager. This move allowed the company to position the Voyager as a more affordable minivan option.
Unfortunately, the 2022 Chrysler Voyager does not make Amazon Fire TV available as an option. In fact, the Voyager is not available for general purchase. It’s only available for fleet purchase, which is a shame because it does come with some attractive features. Among these are its Stow’ n Go Seats, which provide the same cargo volume as the Pacifica. It also includes a 7-inch infotainment display, which can be upgraded to 10.1 inches. Furthermore, the Voyager allows you to pair two phones with its onboard Bluetooth, as per the Stellantis media site. Additionally, its standard Uconnect 5 system also allows for over-the-air updates, ensuring that Voyager owners have the latest tech at their fingertips.
At a starting MSRP of $30,815, the Voyager is indeed more affordable than the Pacifica. However, although the Pacifica starts at $37,095 and costs more if you want Fire TV, its range of available options makes it a very attractive option for prospective minivan buyers.
