The hits just keep on coming from Ford for the Bronco, and so do new models. Revealed today is the latest iteration called Bronco Everglades. Arguably, the best off-road SUV got a whole lot better.

The Everglades is an added trim to the Sasquatch package

The Bronco Everglades adds new dimensions to the Bronco Sasquatch package. Now for some bad news; the Everglades will only be available to current Bronco reservation holders. So if you like what you see but don’t have a Bronco reserved, you’re already out of luck.

That said, for those in the queue, a lot has been added to the Sasquatch features. These include Bilstein shocks, locking axles, and some nice and tall 35-inch Goodyear tires. Those mud tires wrap around 17-inch Carbonized Gray alloy wheels. 

What else does the Bronco Everglades include?

The Carbonized Gray gets added to the grille, with “Bronco” announced in gloss-black letters. But there are more unique Everglades touches on the exterior. Those wheel arches are unique and softly squared-off. And there is a cool standard snorkel that mounts on the passenger side at the cowl. 

Snorkels allow air to enter the engine, even if the SUV is submerged. Two inlet plates allow owners to swap the direction of the airflow depending on the conditions. The maximum depth that Ford recommends is around three feet. Honestly, you shouldn’t need any more than that.

No V6 or V8, but you can order a seven-speed manual transmission

The engine available is the standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. Ford’s twin-turbo V6 is not available on the Everglades. But an optional seven-speed manual transmission is. In standard form, Ford’s 10-speed automatic transfers the power to all four wheels. That EcoBoost banger pumps out 300 hp, and 325 lb-ft of torque. Not bad.

Also not available is the two-door version. The Everglades is a four-door-only proposition. But as Broncos are selling three-to-one, four-doors to two-doors, that probably won’t deter most reservation holders. 

The Bronco Everglades adds these features

In front, a Ford Performance bumper incorporates a safari bar and Warn winch. Rock rails are added, and the bash plates from the Badlands version are included. There are also Everglades stripes on the front fenders, identifying which Bronco edition this is. But more importantly, they measure water depth. There have been so many it is starting to get hard keeping track.

Going to the interior, there is a spartan, but compelling use of vinyl. Rubberized vinyl flooring from the Black Diamond model allows you to wash out the mud and debris. Marine-grade vinyl lines the seats and doors. A large 12-inch infotainment screen is front and center, and so are the controls for the GOAT terrain management system.

Why does Ford add more packages when it can’t make enough Broncos already?

Some are complaining about Ford revealing a new Bronco model when it can’t make what it already has on the books. But these models and introductions have been in the pipeline for probably a couple of years. And the added advantage for Ford is that it keeps interest high. 

Like we said, only those with current Bronco reservations can upgrade to the Everglades package. You can begin that process starting at the beginning of March. Everglades models won’t begin production until this summer. The MSRP is $53,000 plus a $1495 destination fee. That bests the First Edition price by around $6,500. Go ahead, you deserve it.
