We’re not sure what the Ford Bronco is keeping secrets about incredible updates for a few different models. Some 2022 Ford Bronco models quietly gained rear sway bars, but this addition wasn’t advertised. 

Some 2022 Ford Bronco models have new sway bars 

The 2022 Ford Bronco didn’t gain many updates for the new model year. New colors such as Code Orange, Dessert Sand, Eruption Green, and Hot Pepper Red Tinted Clear Coat were added to the mix. 

Plus, the High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension 3.0 (H.O.S.S) system was added to the Ford Bronco Wilstrak models. To save chips, Bronco models at dealerships temporarily lost built-in navigation systems too. 

It seemed like the Bronco only received mild updates, but according to Ford Authority, a few models also got a new rear sway bar. But we don’t understand why Ford is keeping this significant improvement under wraps. 

Which Bronco models have a rear sway bar? 

Reportedly, 2022 Ford Bronco Wildtrak models equipped with the H.O.S.S. 3.0 system and the four-door Broncos with the Sasquatch package gained new rear sway bars. So, it’s only available with the top off-roading trims. 

The update provides a better ride. It offers enhanced weight distribution for all four tires, primarily at higher rates of speed, to improve stability while cornering. Our 2021 Wildtrak Sasquatch model didn’t have the sway bar. 

However, it felt extremely confident and stable around steep mount curves. The steering had a nice weight to it and was responsive. Plus, there was little to no body roll. We didn’t realize a sway bar was needed. 

Those who have tested Bronco models that are equipped with sway bars have a noticeably different performance. It makes the Bronco feel more stable with better manners on the pavement. 

2021 Bronco models without the sway bar are perfectly safe to drive, and we took ours all over the place. But apparently, they don’t feel as stable, have more body roll, and understeer a bit in comparison. 

What’s new for the 2023 Ford Bronco? 

Ordering books for the 2022 Ford Bronco closed in February, so people have been waiting to jump on 2023 models. The ordering books for 2023 models are currently set to open in August, so you don’t have to wait much longer. 

Perhaps more models will be available with the elusive sway bar, but no significant changes are expected. The Ford Bronco DR or Dessert Racer could emerge. However, don’t get your hopes up. 

The DR model is a $250,000 V8-powered model that probably can’t be driven on the street. Aside from the DR, we could see a few new exclusive color options and new wheel designs. Plus, you can go for the Bronco Raptor. 

The 2023 Ford Bronco should start around $30,800, but the price could increase by a few hundred bucks. Production will begin three months after the order books open.
