The 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline is ready to go off-roading 

The 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline is only one of the new updates for 2022. But it’s one of the most exciting updates. With the Timberline trim, you gain off-roading equipment from the Ford Bronco! 

If you go for the Expedition Timberline trim you gain the best-in-class ground clearance of 10.6-inches, orange tow hooks, 32-inch all-terrain tires with 18-inch high-gloss black-painted aluminum wheels, and a broader stance to look the part. 

How well equipped is the Explorer Timberline for off-roading? 

The 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline gained a heavy-duty skid plate from the Ford F-150 Raptor along with a rough road suspension. It includes unique shock lengths and tuning calibration. A specialized stabilizer bar is also included for enhanced approach, break-over, and departure angles. 

Plus, the Expedition Timberline borrows the class-exclusive Trail Control technology from the Ford Bronco. It works with the braking and throttle systems to provide enhanced control on rough, uneven terrain and steep grades. 

The Trail Turn Assist feature allows drivers to enter a donut mode, allowing the SUV to turn circles on a dime. One rear wheel is locked, helping the Expedition almost pivot in place. This will help you maneuver tight corners. 

If you want more power, you got it. The 3.5-liter V6 engine now provides 410 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. On the outgoing model, these figures are up from 375 to 400 hp and 470 to 480 lb-ft of torque. 

When properly equipped, the Expedition Timberline can tow up to 9,300 lbs. The available Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package includes Reverse Trailer Guidance. You also get Pro Trailer Backup Assist and can opt for a 360-degree camera to make towing your boat, RV, or trailer a breeze. 

Does the 2022 Expedition Timberline have a nice interior? 

Yes, the 2022 Ford Expedition Timberline has an incredible interior. It includes ActiveX trimmed seats with heathered cloth inserts, and you can upgrade to leather-trimmed seats. Tangerine stitching adds flair to the door trim and heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel.

A three-seat bench is standard in the second row, but you can opt for captain’s chairs. Each model includes a power-folding third row. The seats fold completely flat to maximize cargo space. 

The new Expedition has a massive 12.0-inch touchscreen, but if that’s not large enough, you can upgrade to the 15.5-inch unit. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. A new rear-seat entertainment system is available too. 

You can also add the Ford BlueCruise hands-free driving feature. Standard safety features include forward-collision warning and lane-keeping automated emergency braking. 

The 2022 Expedition Timberline will arrive at dealerships this winter. Official pricing hasn’t been released. The 2021 Expedition has an MSRP of $49,625. The price may rise by a few thousand dollars to cover the redesigned look and enhanced tech. We will keep you updated as we learn more.
