How much range does the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning have? 

Recently, the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning completed official Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) testing to determine its range. The F-150 Lightning Pro was aiming for a range of about 230 miles, and they hit the nail on the head with that one. 

But the F-150 Lightning with the extended range battery was expected to reach 300 miles. After testing, we’re excited to share that the Lightning has a better range with up to 320 miles on a single charge. 

The top-spec Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum has an EPA-estimated range of 300 miles. Also, you can purchase the Pro with an extended-range battery.

How much power does the F-150 Lightning have? 

It turns out the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning has more power than expected. The standard 98-kWh battery pack cranks out 452 hp instead of 426 hp. The extended-range 131-kWh battery pack increased from 563 to 580 hp. 

Both options still only have 775 lb-ft of torque. But that sounds a bit strange to say it only has lat much torque because that’s tons of power! 

The extra horsepower equals an increased payload capacity. The F-150 Lightning can now carry a payload of up to 2,234 lb instead of just 2,000 lbs. This is a sold 235 lb gain. The Lightning definitely hasn’t been skipping leg day. 

Linda Zhang explained that Fors is seriously focused on raising the bar for this truck, even after it was revealed to deliver more to our customers. 

According to AutoBlog, she also shared that its drive for improvement will receive a significant boost when we start getting feedback and ideas from customers once they receive their Ford F-150 Lightning models. 

How fast does the Ford F-150 Lightning charge? 

Some folks worry about how long it takes to charge the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning, but it gains power in a flash. With the Ford Charge Station Pro, the Lightning can gain up to 30 miles of charge in an hour. 

If you opt for the extended-range battery pack, then you get this home charging station for free. However, you will have to cover the installation costs. Level 2 chargers can be purchased for about $600. 

With a DC fast charger, you can replenish about 80% of the charge in about 40 minutes. Using a regular household-style 120-volt outlet is impractical because it takes too long. 

But the F-150 can also be used to power your home during an outage! It provides 9.6 kW of constant electricity on a full charge. Plus, the Pro Power Onboard generator includes household-style plugs in the bed, cab, and frunk to power tools and appliances. 

Ford is working on a new feature to allow drivers to power their homes during high-cost peak energy hours. Then you can charge your truck during the off hours to save on your home electric bill.
