The Blue Oval has a frightening surprise for fans of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning. Orders were supposed to open for the electric pickup truck just a few days before Halloween. Now, Ford F-150 Lightning buyers will have to wait even longer to place their orders.

Ford’s scary surprise: No 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning orders this October

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning left the automotive world thunderstruck when it was unveiled. The pickup truck is the first fully electric truck from the Blue Oval. Ford has been producing reliable trucks for decades, and the F-150 nameplate is legendary in the truck vehicle class. Producing an electric F-150 was a risky move because of high expectations, but Ford is determined to bring its flagship models to the forefront of its electric future.

F-150 Lightning pre-orders have filled up quickly. The Ford Mustang Mach-E has hit the streets, and consumers and critics alike are impressed. The Mach-E has become one of the best EVs produced this year. The Mach-E’s success makes the F-150 Lightning even more exciting, and anticipation is at an all-time high.

Order books for the F-150 Lightning were supposed to open on October 26, but just in time for spooky season, Ford has frightening news for consumers. According to InsideEVs, order books will now open two months later in December. The electric pickup truck’s official market launch is set for Spring 2022.

The 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning has amassed over 150,000 pre-orders thus far. The Blue Oval has already been struggling with supply issues due to the semiconductor chip shortage. Models like the Ford Bronco have experienced long delivery delays. It’s tough to imagine that Ford will handle deliveries and keep up with the electric truck’s overwhelming demand without a hitch.

F-150 Lightning deliveries could become a nightmare. Ford is stepping up its production to meet the strong demand for its newest electric model but is there any possibility that the American automaker can produce enough models to satiate consumers anytime soon?

Ford’s electric future is currently depending on the success of the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Ford F-150 Lightning. If these new electric nameplates perform well, the automaker will have cemented itself in the future of the automotive industry. As electric vehicles account for more of the total new vehicle market share, automakers will compete to produce the best electric models.

Ford has perfectly timed the release of its two new EVs as other automakers like Honda struggle to produce a popular electric model. The Ford Mustang Mach-E has done its part to earn its place in history. This Spring the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning will attempt to do the same.
