Possible 2022 Ford F-150 Problems
The 2022 Ford F-150 has a few different types of engine problems floating around. The EcoBoost engines already make some people nervous because replacing the turbo costs thousands.
But the 5.0-liter V8 is actually the most unreliable option and could face issues related to cylinder deactivation. It may lead to excessive oil consumption. Both the 3.5-liter EcoBoost PowerBoost Hybrid engine and the 3.3-liter V6 have fewer reports of problems.
However, the 10-speed automatic transmission is continuously gaining tons of complaints and even spurred a class-action lawsuit. The transmission is prone to slipping gears, harsh shifts, jerking, random acceleration, and loss of power.
Reportedly, having the transmission reflashed doesn’t solve the issues. It’s a learning transmission that will improve based on your driving habits, but it might not work correctly.
Ford F-150 trailer software issues
Aside from recurring transmission issues, the 2022 Ford F-150 struggles with the trailer brake software. It may forget that the trailer is attached, and the brake controller could stop working as a result. This causes owners to pull over and reset the system by restarting their trucks.

How reliable is the F-150?
The 2022 Ford F-150 has a reliability rating of 86 out of 100 from J.D.Power, which is great. Scores between 81 and 90 are above average, while anything between 91 and 100 is best. The ranking is based on reports from actual owners.
Models built after 2018 have fewer reports of trouble, indicating that Ford fixed the major fiascos. Ford F-150 trucks can make it past 200,000 miles with the proper maintenance. But the Toyota Tundra can make it over 300,000 miles.
The Ford F-150 doesn’t seem to have any significant problems that should stop you from making your purchase aside from the transmission lawsuit. But Ford hasn’t issued a recall for the 10-speed automatic transmission.
