The 2022 Ford Maverick Is Already Getting More Expensive
Doesn’t it seem a little early for the 2022 Ford Maverick to go up in price? Usually, prices increase year-over-year. But the tiny Ford Maverick is doing things a bit differently. Let’s see how much father the Maverick will stretch your dollar.
How much is the 2022 Ford Maverick?
You can still get started in the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid without breaking the bank. The Maverick XL, which is the base model, is only increasing in price by five dollars. It starts at $20,000.
While five dollars isn’t a big deal, we thought being cheap was Ford’s whole idea with this little truck. For months we followed the Maverick with its rumors about starting under $20,000. Now Ford can’t say that anymore. Also, the destination fee for the Maverick is $1,495, so add that to the MSRP.
The XLT trim is increasing in price by $80, and every Lariat trim now costs $370 more, regardless of the engine and drivetrain. The least expensive XLT trim with front-front wheel drive costs $22,280, while the least expensive Lariat with a similar setup is $25,490.
That price is approaching Ford Ranger territory. You could upgrade to the 2022 Ford Ranger, which starts at $25,285. But we know that a larger option defeats the purpose of the compact Maverick.
Ford Maverick packages are going up in price
There are a few price changes for the 2022 Ford Maverick packages too. For example, the Ford Maverick XLT Luxury Package is increasing from $155 to $2,000. That’s a pretty massive increase!
The XLT Luxury package includes a power driver’s seat, leather steering wheel, spray-in bed liner, and trailer hitch.
You can opt for the Lariat Luxury package that is increasing by $410 to $3,750. It adds the Bang & Olufsen audio system, a larger infotainment system, adaptive cruise control, and rear parking sensors.
The power moonroof now costs $995 instead of $200, while the Ford Co-Pilot 360 suite of driver assistance tech and safety features is increasing from $110 to $650. Speaking of safety, the Roadside Assistance and First Aid Kits each cost $10 more, coming in at $7- and $50.
Is the Maverick worth buying?
Yes, the 2022 Ford Maverick is worth every penny if you’re looking for a compact truck without big truck responsibilities. For example, it’s better on gas and much easier to maneuver in tight city areas than larger options.
The Ford Maverick Hybrid boasts an EPA-estimated 40 mpg, but people have been getting even better results. But the hybrid setup can’t be paired with all-wheel drive or the towing package.
With the more powerful engine and the towing package, the Maverick can tow up to 4,000 lbs. It can haul smaller watercraft and campers. If you need to tow more, the Ranger can pull up to 7,500 lbs.
Just remember that you pay for what you get. The base model Maverick is pretty barebones, and now the available packages to increase comfort and convenience are going up in price. Also, the hybrid model is sold out, so you’ll have to upgrade to the more powerful gas-powered engine.
