We’re sorry to provide bad news. If you want the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid, you might have to wait. The Ford Maverick Hybrid could be unavailable to order until next summer. But maybe you’ll be happy with the gas-powered model instead. 

The 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid is sold out

The 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid plant has its hands full as the order books come to a close. The hybrid models are sold out. This comes after Ford recently announced that production was being continually adjusted to match demands with parts availability. 

According to Pickup Truck Talk, Ford updated the ordering system for dealers, and the option to order a Maverick Hybrid was removed. This could mean that they’re out of available parts or that they simply sold out of hybrid models.

Some rumors suggest that the Maverick Hybrid hasn’t met federal and state regulations. It may be waiting on the OKTB (OK to buy) status. If this is true, we hope the Maverick Hybrid gains completed certifications soon.

The Maverick Hybrid will be back

Reportedly, dealers have deposits for the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid, but they don’t have the option to order one right now. The system isn’t expected to return until the late spring or early summer. 

But keep in mind that the possibility of delays is always looming. The semiconductor chip shortage, equipment shortages, and the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak have already caused numerous setbacks. 

However, the cause of the Maverick Hybrid shortage is currently unknown. The Bronco struggled with a limited supply of chips and its supply of hardtops. It’s possible that the Maverick could face hybrid component shortages. 

Ford has seemingly been aware of this issue. Ford shared that due to high demands, all Maverick Hybrid production for the 2022 model year was expected to be fully reserved by early November.  

Once all 2022 Maverick Hybrid models have been reserved, ordering for the Maverick Hybrid will be closed until it reopens next summer. So, this shouldn’t have exactly been a surprise for dealerships. 

We’re currently unaware of how many Ford Maverick Hybrid models were allotted to each dealership. It seems a little odd that some have deposits for the Maverick Hybrid with such limited inventory. 

Can you order the gas-powered Maverick? 

Yes, while the 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid is currently unavailable, you can order the gas-powered one. It comes with a few benefits. For example, it has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 250 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. 

The hybrid comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with an electric motor to pump out 191 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque. With the extra power from the 2.0-liter engine, you can enjoy a faster acceleration. 

Plus, the gas-powered Maverick can be paired with all-wheel drive and the towing package. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 4,000 lbs. So, the gas-powered model can do more truck stuff than the hybrid. 

With the gas-powered Maverick, you get an EPA-estimated 23 mpg in the city and up to 30 mpg on the highway. Meanwhile, the Maverick Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 42 mpg in the city and up to 33 mpg on the highway. 

Also, the Maverick Hybrid starts at $19,995, while the gas-powered model starts at about $22,280. So, if you don’t want to wait for the Hybrid, you gain more power. But it comes at a higher cost with a lower fuel economy.
