That’s a pretty impressive feat, especially most car manufacturers are happy to have one of their models win a single award. Perhaps it’s no surprise that the 2022 Ford Maverick won the Kelley Blue Book “Compact Pickup Truck Best Buy of 2022” award. The Maverick has been the talk of the town thanks to its small stature, versatility, and entry-level price. The 2022 Maverick has a hybrid powertrain, making it even more economical than its $19,995 price first lets on. (It’s worth noting that that price doesn’t include a $1,495 destination charge). The Maverick can get up to 42 mpg in the city, or you can pay more for a fully gas engine that makes 250 hp. The Ford Maverick can also tow up to 4,000 pounds and haul up to 1,500 pounds.

Ford’s small new truck also took home Kelley Blue Book’s “2022 Best Buy Awards Best New Model” award. To determine its Best Buy Awards, Kelley Blue Book combines each model’s affordability, owner and operating costs, and reliability. The 2022 Ford Maverick had to beat out every other brand new model coming out in 2022, and it did so handily.

The Maverick offers a lot for a small price

In addition to the two engine options, the 2022 Ford Maverick offers Ford’s suite of safety systems known as Co-Pilot360. It handles like an SUV, even while it’s capable of pulling off pickup truck duties. It has a well-tuned chassis and suspension that absorbs most of the roads’ bumps along the way. You can even get a Flexbed, which is a 4.5-foot bed with a household outlet, ten tie-downs, and an available tailgate.

The Maverick’s interior is nice, with an eight-inch touchscreen that’s compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s lots of storage space in the Maverick’s cabin as well as the ability to add features like trash cans and grocery hooks.

With several trim levels including the Ford Maverick XL, XLT, and Lariat, you can start with a variety of choices. The Maverick is perhaps the most affordable new truck that you can buy, and that’s one of the things that Kelley Blue Book likes the most about it.
