General Motors recently debuted its 2022 GMC Hummer EV, and it truly is a sign of the times. Once a gas-guzzling beast, the Hummer has reemerged as an electrified super truck that promises luxury and efficiency. And when it comes to pricing for the Hummer EV, GM wants you to know what you see is what you get. 

GM’s promise of a haggle-free experience 

The 2022 Hummer EV officially goes on sale toward the end of next year. But, the Edition 1 reservations sold out almost instantly on reveal night. To claim an Edition 1 of their own, shoppers had to submit a $100 deposit; fees are refundable. If you weren’t able to make your bid, it could take at least two years for your Hummer to arrive, as AutoNews highlighted. 

According to AutoNews, about half of GMC’s dealers have chosen to sell the electrified Hummer. The Edition 1 has a price tag of $112,595. Duncan Aldred, vice president of global Buick and GMC, said that customers will have a “one-price experience”. This means there will be no incentives, no markups, and no funny business when it comes to buying the all-new Hummer. 

“There will be no incentives. There will be no trickery,” Aldred said “We are trying to construct a dealer margin in such a fashion that it really is a no-haggle price.”

What’s so special about the Edition 1?

As we said before, the Edition 1 pretty much offers everything but the kitchen sink. First of all, the Edition 1 is an off-roading beast. It will be the first vehicle to have GM’s three-motor Ultium Drive system. It has an estimated all-electric range of 350 miles and 1,000-hp. 

The Edition 1’s off-roading features include independent front and rear suspension systems linked to the drive motors. This technology will enhance off-road performance and ensure comfort on-road. 

Other off-road goodies include a front e-Locker to optimize capability and traction. The Edition 1 will also have UltraVision5 that consists of underbody cameras to assist drivers when maneuvering different obstacles. And even though it’s beastly, this luxury EV boasts a quiet driving experience. 

As you’d expect, the Edition 1 offers lots of in-car gadgets. It will have a Bose stereo system, with 14-speakers for an immersive stereo experience. It will also have a 13.4-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch “diagonal color driver information center display.”

You can still reserve a cheaper Hummer EV

So, reservations for the Edition 1 are full. Not all hope is lost, though. You can still reserve other Hummer EV trim levels and even add yourself to the Edition 1 waitlist. The Hummer EV3X starts at $99,999 and is the most potent trim after the Edition one. The EV3X has a 300-mile range and 800-hp. We can expect this option in 2022. 

There are also two other cheaper options. The EV2 and EV2X start at $79,995 and $89,995, respectively. The EV2X is slated to arrive in 2023; it will have a 300-mile range and 625-hp. In 2024, we can expect the EV2 with a 250-mile range.
