The 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X Has One Crucial Advantage
There is new competition among off-roading trucks thanks to the 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X. It may share a lot in common with the 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2. However, the new GMC Sierra AT4X has one significant advantage.
The 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X is comfortable
If you’re ready to tackle the trails in comfort, then check out the 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X. This off-roading truck comes with a Denali-level interior. While this truck may have rugged intentions, it’s also incredibly luxurious.
The cabin includes full-grain leather, a microsuede headliner, ash wood trim, a 15-inch head-up display, 12-speaker Bose audio system, and unique badging. The front seats are heated and include a massage function too. They are 16-way power-adjustable.
So, while you’re heading into the woods, desert, driving in snow, etc., you can do it with extreme comfort. Standard tech also provides more convenience.
How is the tech in the Sierra AT4X?
The 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X is loaded with screens. You’ll find a brand new 13.4-inch diagonal, horizontal touchscreen and a 12.3-inch diagonal configurable instrument cluster. With the 15-inch color head-up display, this makes over 40 inches of visual display.
You can enjoy wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The updated infotainment system now supports Google’s app store too. So you get Google Maps, Google Play, and Google Assistant. With Google Assistant, you can use your voice to play your favorite music or podcast, get directions, check on vehicle functions, and more.
Models with front bucket seats have a T-shaped electronic shifter. Trims with front bench seats have a column-mounted shifter. Also, upper trims now include a standard power-adjustable steering column. The 12 speaker Bose premium audio system plays through 12 speakers, including ones on the door panels.
Extra safety equipment comes with the GMC Sierra AT4X too. It includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high beams.
How capable is the 2022 AT4X?
The 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X is extremely capable. It comes with the 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. We hope the AT4X includes the new paddle shifters.
Suspension upgrades include new springs that increase front and rear suspension travel by 50 mm and 20 mm compared to the AT4. Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers and specific off-road chassis and suspension calibrations are also included.
This truck rides on 18-inch black wheels wrapped in LT265/70R18 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac Mud-Terrain tires. A new rocker guard accessory is available.
The AT4X has a larger steel transfer case than the AT4. The two-speed transfer case has selectable modes for various off-roading conditions, such as Terrain Mode. It allows for one-pedal rock crawling.
Plus, the GMC Sierra AT4X includes front and rear e-locking differentials. This isn’t offered by any competitors in its class.
But this might be the kicker. The AT4X begins at about $74,995. This is quite the increase compared to the standard AT4, which starts at about $60,995. Will people pay more for luxury comfort?
The GMC Sierra AT4X may serve as the most luxurious and capable Sierra option ever. But it won’t be keeping up with cheaper options like the Ram 1500 TRX.
