Endurance racing is arguably one of the hardest forms of motorsport to master. Obviously, the physical toll of racing as fast as you can for hours on end is immense. It’s also hard on cars, as we’ve learned from events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans. That’s why there’s almost no better candidate for enduro racing than an ultra-reliable Honda. The brand’s HPD tuning arm modified this 2022 Honda Civic Si for just that.

This Civic Si is built for speed

As far as SEMA manufacturer builds go, this is certainly one of the more interesting ones we’ve heard about. It’s a very effective marketing tool, to give credit where it’s due. Everything you see, hear, and touch in this Si race car can be bought from various manufacturers. It’s important to point out that not all of these parts are from Honda.

In reality, what we have here is a mixed bag of legendary Japanese (and otherwise) tuner companies showcasing their latest parts for the 2022 Honda Civic Si. Brakes by Wilwood, suspension from Eibach and Bilstein, an exhaust by Borla, and too many other parts to name. There’s also a miscellaneous smattering of Honda Performance Development (HPD) parts on the thing too. Unfortunately, all we’ve got for power figures is “more than stock.”

25 hours of endurance racing is no joke

And those power figures had better be “more than stock” given the page long parts list. They also had better not break (but some of them better brake). That’s because this 2022 Honda Civic Si race car is going, well, racing, of course. Not just any race, either. This winged beast is going to the 25 Hours of Thunderhill, one of the most challenging endurance races in America.

As the name suggests, the Thunderhill race is rather long. That’s where that oh-so-famous Honda reliability comes into play. Evidently. this is going to be a great test of the Civic Si’s powerplant. It’s been used before, in the Honda Civic Type R, but this engine features a few changes. Whether they hold up or crack under pressure will have to wait till early December when the 25 Hours of Thunderhill takes place.

How much will the 2022 Honda Civic Si cost?

And how much might this Civic be? Unfortunately, Honda didn’t provide pricing. That said, go-fast parts are often pretty pricey. Those Wilwood brakes go for around $2,000, and that’s just for the front. A conservative estimate here would make this 2022 Honda Civic Si worth well north of $50,000. While that might be more than a new Civic Type R, it’s certainly going to be faster, owing to its lighter weight and slick racing tires. Hopefully, this little racer fares well at Thunderhill, and we wish it luck.
