On the performance front, the 2022 Mazda CX-30 has the advantage. It offers two engine options: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine (186 hp) and a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine (227 hp). In comparison, all 2022 Honda HR-V models are powered by a 141-hp 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. Both the HR-V and CX-30 offer a choice of a front-wheel drive system or an all-wheel drive system. Neither crossover SUV is rated for towing. 

For efficiency, the HR-V has the advantage. It gets an estimated fuel economy of up to 28 city/34 highway mpg. In comparison, the CX-30 gets an estimated gas mileage of up to 25 city/33 highway mpg.

Which subcompact crossover SUV costs more: the 2022 HR-V or the 2022 CX-30? The starting prices of the 2022 HR-V range from $21,870 MSRP for the LX trim up to $26,670 MSRP for the EX-L trim. While Mazda has not yet released the price information for the 2022 CX-30, it’s not expected to differ much from the 2021 CX-30. The starting prices of the 2021 CX-30 range from $22,050 MSRP for the 2.5 S trim up to $34,050 MSRP for the Turbo Premium Plus Package trim.
