The 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport At Least Looks the Part
Holy moly, the 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport just came out. It arrived much faster than expected! But this could be part of the problem with the new Honda Passport TrailSport. Some feel as if it didn’t receive enough upgrades.
Is the 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport worth buying?
Yes, the 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport serves as a more rugged and capable off-roading trim. If you want to take your Passport further than the TrailSport trim will help you get there. But it might not keep up with the Jeep Wrangler or Ford Bronco.
According to The Truth About Cars, the Passport TrailSport is a little disappointing. They suggest it didn’t receive enough off-roading upgrades to be exciting. Honda seemed to place badges on this new rugged SUV trim and called it a day.
What comes with the Passport TrailSport trim?
The 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport gains broader front and rear tracks. Its stance has been increased by about 10 millimeters or 0.4 inches to improve its stance and stability. This means it could have a smoother ride too.
Plus, you get exclusive 18-inch wheels wrapped in 245/60 R18 tires with sidewall tread for a more rugged appearance. Chunkier tires may be available later. You’ll notice a slightly revised face with a larger black grille. The front and rear bumpers are also beefier.
At least all-wheel drive comes standard with the Honda Passport TrailSport. It also uses the i-VTM4 torque-vectoring system, which is also standard on the Elite trim. It’s optional with the EX-L. The Passport TrailSport has 8.1-inches of ground clearance and includes the Intelligent Traction Management systems.
There are no suspension or powertrain upgrades yet. Honda mentioned that these types of upgrades will arrive with later TrailSport models. Rumors suggest that the Honda Ridgeline TrailSport is up next.
The interior features orange contrast stitching, leather seats, TrailSport logos, and amber ambient lighting. You can add the HPD accessories package for a unique black grille, wheel design, black fender flares, and HDP graphics.
All Honda Passport trims are powered by the same 3.5-liter V6 engine with 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, the Passport can tow up to 5,000 lbs.
How much is the Honda Passport TrailSport?
Pricing for the 2022 Honda Passport TrailSport hasn’t been released yet. The standard Passport model begins at about $32,790. We expect the TrailSport to add a few thousand dollars to the price, but we will keep you updated when the official pricing is released.
You should be able to purchase a Honda Passport TrailSport model this winter. But it might be worth waiting for it to receive more upgrades. YouTuber Jon Tuico had a much more compelling project model.
His TrailSport includes a JSport life kit, Firestone Destination A/T2 tires, and a Dirt Complex tow-hitch tire carrier. Stainless steel skid plates protect the undercarriage, and you can see orange tow hooks on the front with thicker fender flares.
Honda hasn’t confirmed if all Passport TrailSport models will gain these upgrades in the future. It may focus on other models first and enhance the Passport later.
