Hybrid cars are becoming more popular as vehicle and gas prices increase. Some brands, like Hyundai, offer highly affordable models. In fact, the compact Elantra is the automaker’s best-selling hybrid model. Here’s a look at the 2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid and its impressive sales figures.

The 2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid is selling like hotcakes

According to Hyundai, the brand saw excellent sales this past August. Overall, the automaker sold 64,335 2022 models, a 14% increase over 2021’s 56,200. As for year-over-year figures, Hyundai managed an all-time sales record of a 24% increase.

The numbers are impressive, but the model that sold the best among eco-friendly vehicles is the 2022 Elantra Hybrid. In August, Hyundai saw its best all-time retail sales yet for the compact hybrid. That’s not all that surprising when you consider skyrocketing gas prices and American consumers’ increasing familiarity with hybrid and electric vehicles.

Throughout the automotive industry, sales have dropped thanks to high vehicle prices and the chip shortage. But fuel-saving models in Hyundai’s lineup are experiencing increased demand. So it’s no surprise an affordable car boasting 54 mpg combined would see significant sales.

What does the 2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid offer?

Fuel savings is a major plus for the 2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid, but that’s not the only perk. This model year, the compact comes in two versions to choose from: the standard Blue and the upgraded Limited.

Both pack a standard inline-four engine and a 32-kW electric motor, producing 139 hp total. A six-speed EcoShift dual-clutch transmission rounds out the Elantra Hybrid powertrain. In addition, each model offers three driving modes: Normal, Sport, and Smart.

Starting at only $24,400, the Blue has 16-inch wheels, projector headlights, bulb-style taillights, and a black grille and window trim. Safety features include a safe exit warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, and high beam assist, to name just a few.

The Limited, which starts at $29,000, adds 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and taillights, a dark chrome grille and window trim, and turn signal indicators on the side mirrors.

Additional advanced driver-assistance systems on the Limited include park distance warning for reverse, highway driving assist, smart cruise control with stop and go, and parking collision avoidance assist.

Hyundai’s warranty is a huge selling point

Arguably, the most attractive feature of any new Hyundai vehicle is the warranty. Parts and labor can be expensive, especially when dealing with a hybrid powertrain. But Hyundai alleviates some of those worries by providing generous warranty coverage.

First, buyers get 10 years or 100,000 miles for the hybrid/electric battery. Next, the brand offers seven years/unlimited miles of anti-perforation coverage. There’s also 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage and five-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited coverage. In addition, the automaker provides five years or unlimited miles of 24/7 roadside assistance.

The 2022 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid model enjoyed brisk sales in August, likely thanks to the car’s tremendous fuel savings and low sticker price. Because it also comes with outstanding warranty coverage and excellent features, this model is a steal.
