Someone might need to tell the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E to move over. It needs to make way for the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5, which is coming in hot. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 challenges the Ford Mustang Mach-E with lower pricing and similar ranges.

Finally, pricing for the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 has been revealed. It starts at $41,000 before, and EV tax credits that you may qualify for have not been factored in. This slightly undercuts the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E, which has an MSRP of $42,895.

The base model of the Ioniq 5 doesn’t come with all-wheel drive. It has about 202 miles of range. With the more powerful motor and larger battery, the Ioniq 5 provides 303 miles of range. It costs about $44,875.

Also, you can upgrade to the SE trim with AWD and dual drive motors for a 256-mile range. This model starts at about $44,875.

The standard-range Mustang Mach-E with rear-wheel drive provides about 230 miles of range. Upgrading to the extended-range battery increases the range to about 300 miles. The extend-range battery with AWD for about $49,100 decreases the range to about 270 miles.

Does the Mustang Mach-E have more power than the Ioniq 5?

Range is excellent and all, but what about power? The 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 base model has 168 hp. Upgrading to the longer-range battery provides 225 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. This setup allows the Ioniq to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.4 seconds

The AWD model provides 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque. It can reach 60 mph in about 5.2 seconds, which is much more exciting.

With the Ford Mustang Mach-E base model, you get 266 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. The extended range battery increases these figures to 290 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. Adding WD provides 346 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque.

The Ford Mach-E GT comes with 480 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque. The model with 290 hp reached 60 mph in about 6.1 seconds. But the GT flies with a 0 to 60 time of about 3.5 seconds.

When plugged into a DC fast charger, the 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in about 18 minutes. It can add about 68 miles in five minutes.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E adds about 61 miles of range in about 10 minutes with a DC fast charger. It can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 45 minutes. It also comes with a home charger that can be used with a 120- or 240-volt outlet.

You can have home chargers installed for both of these electric SUVs as well. The Mach-E may have improved battery capacities to provide more range and faster charging times, but the updated models haven’t been rated by the EPA.

Also, we’re still waiting to test the Ioniq 5’s quality and range from behind the wheel. But while the Ioniq has slightly lower prices, the Mach-E has more range and power.
