The 2022 Hyundai Palisade Claims the Toyota Highlander Has No Chance
There is some big talk coming from three-row SUVs. The 2022 Hyundai Palisade said that the 2022 Toyota Highlander doesn’t stand a chance! Apparently, the Hyundai Palisade has more features than the Toyota Highlander, and it wins every time.
2022 Hyundai Palisade vs. 2022 Toyota Highlander
The 2022 Hyundai Palisade is trying to flex on the competition by releasing an ad that says the 2022 Toyota Highlander doesn’t have a chance. The ad explains that the Hyundai Palisade has America’s best warranty, safe exit assist, and a blind-spot view monitor, while the Toyota Highlander doesn’t.
While those features are excellent, we aren’t sure that the Highlander loses to the Palisade every single time. It should have a few advantages of its own, so let’s see how these SUVs compare, starting with price.
You can get started with a 2022 Palisade for about $33,350. The 2022 Highlander begins at around $35,405. That’s only a $2,055 difference in price before destination fees, and dealership markups have been added.
Does the Palisade or Highlander have a better ride?
The 2022 Toyota Highlander comes with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that pumps out 295 hp and 263 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.5 seconds which is a little better than average.
With the 2022 Hyundai Palisade, you get a 3.8-liter V6 engine with 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.6 seconds. Once again, these SUVs feel evenly matched.
Both SUVs can tow up to 5,000 lbs when properly equipped. The Highlander can carry a payload up to 1,685 lbs, and the Palisade can carry a payload of up to 1,605 lbs. Also, they both come with standard front-wheel drive, but you can add all-wheel drive.
The Palisade has more confident brakes but has vague steering. The Highlander takes longer to stop but has more engaging handling. Both SUVs provide a smooth ride, but the Palisade has a quieter interior.
Does the Highlander or Palisade have better features?
The 2022 Hyundai Palisade has a larger third-row seat than the 2022 Toyota Highlander. Also, the Palisade offers 18.0 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats with up to 86.4 cubes total. The Highlander provides 16.0 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear with up to 84.3 cubes total.
Both SUVs feature an upscale interior with high-quality materials, but the Hyundai Palisade offers more of a luxurious feeling. According to Car and Driver, the Highlander falls short for creature comfort.
An 8.0-inch infotainment system comes standard with both SUVs. You can upgrade to a 10.3-inch display with the Palisade and a 12.3-inch unit with the Highlander. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard too.
Both SUVs come with standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance. The Highlander also provides blind-spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert, while the Palisade offers standard adaptive cruise control.
So the Palisade doesn’t win every time because the Highlander is a little faster and more engaging. But the Palisade is more comfortable, includes more value, has more space, and has a nicer interior.
