The 2022 Hyundai Tucson XRT Enters the Dark Side
A lot of great things have happened for the Hyundai Tucson lately. It got a new look, more power, and a more confident attitude. Now you can go for the 2022 Hyundai Tucson XRT to provide an even more rugged look.
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson XRT looks bold
If you want to spice things up with a little more attitude, then check out the 2022 Hyundai Tucson XRT. XRT sounds pretty extreme. It seems like the name would be given to an off-roading truck or rally car. But instead, the XRT is a new trim for the Hyundai Tucson to provide it with a rugged and confident look.
The Hyundai Tucson XRT trim adds:
- 19-inch XRT exclusive black wheels
- Black crossbars on the roof
- Black mirrors
- Black window trim
- Black cladding
- Black side steps
You may have noticed a theme here, and it’s darkness. The interior also features black cloth upholstery and a black headliner. Plus, the approach lighting will help light up this SUV in the actual dark.
This trim is based on the existing SEL trim and includes the Convenience package. However, it excludes the sunroof. You can pair this trim with the gas-powered engine. It’s not available with the hybrid models. Also, it’s available with AWD.
On a disappointing note, this trim doesn’t include any mechanical upgrades. So it only looks more fit for adventuring.
The Tucson XRT starts at $32,625. Adding AWD increases the price to $34,125, including a destination charge.
What else is new for the 2022 Tucson?
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson XRT comes with the standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 187 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 10.2 seconds.
This speed is below average. Upgrading to the hybrid model gets you 226 hp, and the plug-in hybrid pumps out 261 hp. But the hybrid powertrains will cost you the new XRT look. But the faster accelerations could be worth it. Plus, the hybrid models come with standard AWD.
The 2022 Tucson can tow up to 2,000 lbs when equipped with trailer brakes. It corners well, provides a smooth ride, and the interior is quiet. It provides a sense of sportiness and luxury as a daily driver.
Does the 2022 Tucson have a nice interior?
Yes, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson has an excellent interior. It’s spacious, provides an intuitive layout, and is crafted with high-quality materials. You can access up to 38.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat with up to 80.3 cubes total.
An 8.8-inch touchscreen is standard, but the 2022 Hyundai Tucscon XRT and other higher trim levels come with a 10.3-inch unit. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the built-in navigation is optional.
The standard safety features consist of automated emergency braking with pedestrian directions and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. You can opt for adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist.
While we wish the Hyundai Tuscon XRT was available with more power, it still provides plenty of value with a bolder look and plenty of convenience features. Perhaps the hybrid models will gain a similar appearance package soon.
