Now, Hyundai’s official website is advertising the 2022 Hyundai Tucson XRT SUV as a part of the new ‘Uncharted’ film starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.

The film ‘Uncharted’ is based on a popular cinematic action/adventure game series developed for Sony of the same name. The series features protagonist Nathan Drake embarking on several different adventures that take him to ancient temples, treacherous jungles, and other exciting locations. Nathan is often accompanied by his friend and mentor Victor Sullivan, who goes by “Sully”.

In the film, Tom Holland plays Nathan Drake, and Mark Wahlberg plays Sully. Hyundai’s website includes a movie poster featuring Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg, and the 2022 Hyundai Tucson XRT. Fans can download the poster as a PDF. The poster reads, “no path goes uncharted in the all-new 2022 Tucson XRT”. The witty line is great advertising copy, but does the Tucson XRT actually have what it takes to adventure in harsh conditions?

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson XRT a real off-road SUV?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson XRT is the Tucson’s closest relative to an off-road trim. Off-roading has become a popular pastime in America, and several automakers have rolled out trims to meet the rising demand for trail-ready vehicles. Off-road SUVs allow drivers and passengers to experience the great outdoors in an exciting new way.

The Hyundai Tucson XRT starts at $31,550. It uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine to make 187 horsepower. The compact SUV gets 26 miles per gallon in the city and 33 miles per gallon on the highway. It includes standard side steps and XRT exclusive cladding.

The Tucson XRT features matte black front and rear skid plates. It has 8.3 inches of ground clearance, which is adequate for an off-road SUV. The SUV includes XRT-exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels. It uses a center limited slip differential. According to MotorTrend, the XRT is more off-road inspired instead of being an actual off-road SUV.

Should you buy a Hyundai Tucson XRT?

Including the Hyundai Tucson XRT in a film like ‘Uncharted’ is great marketing, but the Tucson XRT is far from the most capable off-road SUV on the market. There are several more capable compact SUV models for off-roading, like the Ford Bronco and Jeep Renegade Trailhawk.
