Infiniti isn’t always the first brand to pop into my head when someone asks about luxury vehicles. Why is that? I am more likely to think of Lexus, Lincoln, or BMW. But after a week with the 2022 Infiniti QX60, I might have to reorder that list a bit. The newly updated QX60 is a fine interior that should please even the more discerning luxury SUV drivers. I’m talking quilted brown leather, fancy controls, and plenty of space for you and your designer dog. Infiniti stepped up on this one. 

Is the 2022 Infiniti QX60 worth the money? 

The newly redesigned QX60 might not have a big fancy engine or a sporty driving profile, but why should it? It’s a luxury midsize three-row SUV. It has a 295-hp V6, the same one from its corporate cousin, the Nissan Pathfinder. The QX60 isn’t quick, but it has all the power it needs to move the massive leather seats comfortably and smoothly. I appreciated that Infiniti didn’t try to make this glorified leather couch try act like a sports car. It’s a fancy SUV, and it feels like it. 

The version I tested was the 2022 Infiniti QX60 Autograph AWD. This pinnacle trim starts at a steep $61,375. However, our test unit had two optional lighting packages, one for the interior and one for the exterior. These optional packages also included the sharp premium paint color, Warm Titanium. These extras cost just under $700 each, plus the $1,025 destination charge, making the final as-tested price $65,645. The Infiniti ain’t cheap, but luxury don’t come cheap. 

What is the 2022 Infiniti QX60 interior like?

Car & Driver was also impressed by the QX60’s newly redesigned interior. However, it retains the same three-row layout, allowing seven passengers. However, our top-tier Autograph trim converts the middle row to two Captian’s chairs, making it only fit six. This will certainly put some customers out of the game for the QX60, but if you can sacrifice the extra seat, the Captain’s chairs look incredible and offer passengers a tremendous amount of space and comfort. 

Although the rear seats are pretty rad, the front seats simply leave the sorry people in the back out to dry. The front seats feature 8-way adjustments, heating and cooling, and sound deadening that would please the grumpiest of automotive journos. 

If the plush front seats aren’t enough, even the dash comes covered in supple, quilted leather. I am a fool for quilted leather. Objectivity melts when I see those little hide diamonds. I can’t help it. It shows the right amount of attention to detail, making us feel like our money was well spent. It’s a bit gimmicky, but I’m here for it. I’m buying. Any how….

What features can you get in the 2022 Infiniti QX60?

There are more interior features to explore than anyone can possibly work through in a week. Some of the standouts are the three-zone climate control and air purification system in higher trims. It also features wireless phone systems, Apple and Android both, onboard wi-fi, a 17-speaker Bose system (that sounds pretty great), and a whole of optional safety systems. 

The Infiniti has some cool standard safety systems like an adaptive cruise control system which utilizes data from the QX60’s onboard navigation system to slow the vehicle in anticipation of upcoming curves in the road. It also has one of the least annoying forward collision warning systems, lane departure warning, and an optional semi-autonomous driving mode for the adaptive cruise control. 

Overall the new Infiniti QX60 is a joy to drive and even more of a joy to sit in traffic and just soak up the quilted interior.
