What’s up with this newest Jeep SUV? Edmunds reviewed the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee and had plenty of positives to report on. After a redesign, this sport utility vehicle delivers on the road as well as it delivers off-road.

When Edmunds ranked the best midsize SUVs, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee was third overall. The MSRP ranges from $38,325 to $64,780, which leaves plenty of room for buyers to customize. One of the biggest positives of the Grand Cherokee is the number of powertrains available. Buyers can opt for a V6 or a V8, in addition to the plug-in hybrid 4xe.

The V6 2022 Grand Cherokee with four-wheel drive gets 22 mpg combined, more than similar rivals. With the V8 engine and 4WD, the fuel economy goes down to 17 mpg combined. But what the SUV lacks in fuel economy, it makes up for in fun. The Quadra-Trac II 4WD and the adjustable air suspension will get you the most capable setup.

While some similar midsize SUVs might be capable of going off the beaten path, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is made for that. The Trailhawk trim has a 2.9-inch lift over the standard version from the factory. The 2022 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will run you $38,390, just $3,495 more expensive than the standard version.

Experts says the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee delivers on comfort

Jeep isn’t known for comfort, but it is one of the areas Edmunds highlighted for the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The comfortable front seats won’t let you down for whatever adventures you might throw at it. Both the front and rear seats can be equipped with heating and ventilation.

Jeep’s air suspension system helps cushion the ride further. It helps soften the blow of the bumps in the road or whatever terrain you might be going over. A new four-zone climate control system also helps keep everyone comfortable.

Thanks to the redesign for this year, plenty of new technology help makes the Grand Cherokee more comfortable than ever.

Some of Jeep’s advanced safety and security features

Some of the best safety features noted by Edmunds include Jeep’s Selec-Terrain system, which helps increase the Jeep’s traction on the road. This features different modes to help keep traction during different weather conditions or terrains. Quadra-lift increases the Grand Cherokee’s ground clearance and helps smooth bumpy roads. Air suspension and adaptive dampers help do that.

Other active driver safety systems include adaptive cruise control, active lane management, and full-speed forward collision warning. It also has a rearview backup camera with front and rear park assist.

If the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is missing something you want, there’s a good chance you can add it on at some point. Jeep has made it easy to configure and customize its trucks and SUVs to give buyers exactly what is wanted.
