What to expect with the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe
There’s one aspect about the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe that sets it apart from other models. It’s different because you can cut down on emissions by plugging it in to charge. The Grand Cherokee 4xe will finally join the Jeep Wrangler 4xe.
If the Grand Cherokee 4xe is anything like the Wrangler 4xe, then you better act fast. The Wrangler 4xe is America’s most popular PHEV or plug-in hybrid, and it’s already sold out for the year.
How much power will the Grand Jeep Cherokee 4xe have?
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is expected to have a power boost. The Wrangler 4xe has a 2.0-liter inline-four engine that’s paired with two motors and a 14.0-kWh lithium-ion battery. They combine to generate 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, creating the second most powerful Warnlger ever. Only the Rubicon 392 has more juice.
It could gain the same powertrain or a different option. Also, we can’t forget about the gas-powered model. It could gain the same engine options as its bigger brother, the Grand Jeep Cherokee L.
The Cherokee L offers a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 290 hp and 257 lb-ft of torque. You can upgrade to the Hemi 5.7-liter V8 engine for 357 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. But the 2021 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk has a 6.4-liter V8 engine with 475 hp and 47- lb-ft of torque.
There are multiple Grand Cherokee models to choose from. You can go off-roading with the Trailhawk or racing with the Trackhawk. That’s why we expect to see a few different engines arrive during 2022.
The Grand Cherokee and three-row Grand Cherokee L can tow up to 7,200 lbs when properly equipped. It may receive extra muscle. Also, the Grand Cherokee L receives an EPA-estimated 19 mpg in the city and up to 27 mpg on the highway.
With the Wrangler 4xe, you get an EPA-estimated 49 MPGe. So, it’s safe to expect the Grand Cherokee 4xe to have a better range.
What’s new for the 2022 Grand Cherokee?
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe should have pops blue badging and blue tow hooks to match the Wrangler 4xe. Its exterior and interior may resemble the three-row Grand Cherokee L.
Each Grand Cherokee L model comes with a 10.1-inch infotainment system. It comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trim levels may provide wireless connectivity for these services.
The dated interior is expected to become modernized with higher quality materials. Upscale trims such as the Summit and Overland trims are expected to provide leather upholstery and open-pore trim.
