The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Got an Insane Price Increase
Holy moly, some of the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee pricing has been revealed, and it’s shocking. We didn’t expect the new Jeep Gand Cherokee with two rows to be more expensive than the three-row model.
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee gains a major price increase
The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee starts at $33,885. So, we expected the 2022 model to only go up by a few thousand bucks. However, the Grand Cherokee had other plans. The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee starts at about $38,890.
That’s nearly a $5,000 increase. Also, these prices are listed before the destination fees, and dealership markups have been added. It’s expected to be more expensive than the Jeep Grand Cherokee L that begins at around $39,185.
But the Cherokee L offers a third row. Shouldn’t it cost more? The two models are pretty similar except for the extra row and hybrid powertrain. Now we’re worried about how much the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe will cost.
Is the new Jeep Grand Cherokee worth buying?
Yes, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee has its perks as a totally redesigned model. If you don’t want to wait for the 4xe model, you can get started with the base engine. It’s a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that pumps out 290 hp and 257 lb-ft of torque.
You can upgrade to the 5.7-liter V8 engine for 357 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. With the V6 engine, you can tow up to 6,200 lbs. The V8 engine increases the towing capacity to 7,200 lbs. This is a solid amount of power for towing boats and midsize campers.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s paired with two electric motors to generate 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. The 17-kWh battery pack should provide a manufacturer-estimated electric range of 25 miles. You can tow up to 6,000 lbs with the 4xe.
Because the Grand Cherokee is 11.4 inches shorter than the Cherokee L, the cargo space is 13.8 cubic feet less, and there are 1.2 inches of legroom missing in the second row. But the wheelbase is also 5.0-inches shorter, making the two-row model better for off-roading.
Speaking of off-roading, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk could change the game. It can be equipped with the 4xe powertrain and can ford water up to 24 inches. It comes with 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, steel skid plates, an off-road camera, and the Quadra-Drive FWD system.
The air suspension provides up to 11.3 inches of ground clearance, and the new sway bar disconnect provides enhanced wheel articulation for rock crawling. The Jeep Selec-Speed Control manages speed in 4LO.
What features does the Grand Cherokee have?
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee carries its luxurious tradition forward with quilted leather upholstery, open-pore wood trim, and high-tech digital displays. You can upgrade to a 10.1-inch infotainment system.
With the Limited, you get a power-operated rear liftgate, interior ambient lighting, heated seats in the front and rear, power-adjustable front seats, automatic high-beam headlamps, remote start, etc.
The gasoline-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee models should reach dealerships by the end of 2021. But the 4xe isn’t expected to arrive until 2022. We will keep an eye out for its pricing information.
