The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Masters Winter With Poise
Jeep has raised the bar again, and it’s been an absolute pleasure to get behind the wheel of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer for a first-hand experience. The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer has proven its ability to dominate snow, freezing temperatures, ice, slush, and more while providing luxury, comfort, and convenience.
Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer good in the snow?
Not only is the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer good in the snow, but it might be the best. This week, there was a massive 12-inch blizzard in Asheville, NC, providing me with the perfect opportunity to fight the snow.
By fighting the snow, I mean driving very carefully to test out different settings and features in the Grand Wagoneer. It made driving through sleet, snow, mud, and all sorts of slippery conditions easy and comfortable.
Therefore, I feel the need to remind everyone, including myself, that overconfidence can be dangerous in the snow. Even if your SUV or truck can handle winter conditions, go slow and pay attention to your surroundings.
How does the Grand Wagoneer perform in snow?
The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer feels stable and confident in the snow without feeling too heavy. Its size made me worry that it would sink down into the 12” powder we received and get stuck in the mud.
However, the Grand Wagoneer doesn’t feel like a lumbering vehicle and had plenty of traction to drive over icy gravel and dirt roads with steep inclines. The brakes provide smooth stops without being overly sensitive as well.
The automatic traction control system seemed to take over at times to prevent slipping. The system wasn’t overbearing and made corrections based on changing conditions. It seemed like the perfect assistant to make driving in snow easier.
The Select-Terrain system includes an Automatic 4×4 setting that senses road conditions pretty well. It was impressive to see how the suspension and torque adjusted to mud, snow, and slush. More power was delivered as needed, and I didn’t need to use the Hill Start Assist system on steep inclines.
But putting the system in Snow Mode is even more remarkable. Once you select the Snow Mode, the Quadra-Lift Air Suspension automatically raises from eight to 10 inches to provide plenty of clearance.
The suspension stiffened up to account for the slippery snow, and the increased ground clearance didn’t come with extra body roll. Overall, the Grand Wagoneer provides ultimate control. No other vehicle has avoided slipping like this beast.
The Grand Wagoneer is nice and warm
Another great thing about the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is the luxury warmth. You can get out of the frozen tundra and into a nice toasty interior. Using the automatic start button on the keys allowed the automatic climate control to heat things up pretty quickly.
By the time all of the snow was brushed off the roof, the windows were defrosted, providing plenty of visibility. If the roof is too high up to reach, you can lower the suspension to make clearing the snow easier.
The automatic running boards swoop out from under the chassis to provide a stable place to enter the vehicle. The Ford Bronco Wildtrak was a little difficult to climb into as one of my feet was slipping in a wintery mix.
Then you get to wrap your fingers around a warm heated steering wheel. There are heated seats in the first and second rows keeping up to four rear ends warm. Plus, you can activate the massagers in the front seats for a warm and relaxing break.
The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer has four automatic climate control zones, allowing everyone to keep the perfect temperature. Those who want more heat can have it, but if others are too hot, they can cool off.
You might not even want to climb out of the Grand Wagoneer when you arrive at your location. The warm atmosphere that’s aided with the crisp and clear McIntosh audio system creates a relaxing yet confident environment to escape from the winter cold.
