The Kia EV6 is the latest offering to the electric vehicle world, and it’s expected to give the likes of the Hyundai Kona Electric and Ford Mustang Mach E a run for their money. The vehicle is built on an Electric Global Modular Platform and may underpin several upcoming Kia and Hyundai electric models.

With an MSRP of $40,900, the EV6 is a magnificent proposition of the lot with several things to report. But does it have Android Auto? Let’s find out.

The 2022 EV6 is Kia’s first dedicated electric vehicle

Kia has evolved significantly in the past few years. The company has gone from making econoboxes to creating leading crossovers like the Telluride and impressive sports cars like the Stinger. Now it’s venturing into the EV space with its brand new offering, the EV6, and it’s surpassing the underwhelming efforts of models like Nissan Leaf to try and get up to the levels of Tesla.

The 2022 Kia EV6 offers a maximum range of 310 miles near the 326 miles offered by the Tesla Model Y. The EV6 also has a quick charging rate made possible by its 800-volt architecture. According to Car and Driver, the model offers two platforms, all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive, with different trim configurations. You get a single and dual electric motor setup depending on the trim configurations you feel more comfortable with.

If you choose to go with the RWD Standard Range Trim, you will have to make do with 167 hp. The RWD Long-Range trim offers 225 hp. If you’re feeling ambitious, you can opt for the GT-Line trim, which gives 320 hp, but the GT trim gives a more enthusiastic experience with an impressive 576 hp.

The EV6 GT is extremely fast and can pull a 0 to 60 mph time in under 3.5 seconds. You’ll likely get pulled back to your seat due to the acceleration, but you’ll get used to it with time.

Does the 2022 EV6 have Android Auto?

According to the official Kia website, there are five trim levels, the Light RWD, Wind RWD, Wind e-RWD, GT Line RWD, and GT Line e-AWD, and they all have Android Auto. Android Auto allows drivers to use their phones using voice commands while driving without fumbling with the phone, thus minimizing distractions. Android Auto is an optional configuration, but many automakers are integrating it into their vehicles today.

The Kia EV6 also has Highway Driving Assist 2, which helps center the vehicle even when driving through a curve to reduce collision risk. Additionally, Safe Exit Assist informs drivers of approaching vehicles to prevent passengers from opening car doors into oncoming traffic.

If the onboard sensors notice an approaching vehicle, the rear doors automatically lock themselves with the electronic child locks to prevent the passengers from opening the door.

The Kia EV6 also lets you park your car without being behind the wheel. Remote Smart Parking Assist allows you to park the car while outside by controlling the brakes, accelerator, and steering using ultrasonic sensors, which map a picture of what’s happening outside the vehicle.

What we know about the 2023 Kia EV6

The 2023 Kia EV6 isn’t too far off from its predecessor. It has an 800-volt fast charging structure that can take the car from a capacity of 10% to 80% in 18 minutes. The Light trim has a 310-mile range and is powered by 225 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.

Additionally, it has two 12.3-inch screens, automatic temperature control, and simulated leather seating surfaces. The 2023 EV6 infotainment system includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, wireless charging, and navigation. The model is expected to launch in the U.S. in December 2022.
