Will the 2022 Kia EV6 GT Be the Most Powerful Kia?
The 2022 Kia EV6 is already an electric SUV with over 320 available horsepower. But, apparently, Kia is planning even more power for its EV crossover. This performance model will be known as the Kia EV6 GT, and while it is not available quite yet, we are still excited to see it in the metal. Especially considering the instant delivery of power that an EV has. So, what is the EV6 GT, and will it be the most powerful Kia ever put into production?
The 2022 Kia EV6 GT will be seriously quick
In its current form, the Kia EV6 has the ability to generate 321 horsepower. Kia even states that this EV has a quicker 0 to 60 mph time than that of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe. Granted, this crossover will not have the same driving experience as a legendary German brand. When equipped with the GT package, the EV6 will have standard all-wheel drive. But, that isn’t even the best part, the EV6 GT will also boast 576 hp. Putting it into performance territory.
Better yet, in addition to 576 hp, the EV6 GT will offer 546 pound-foot of torque. This will allow drivers to get an engaging experience behind the wheel. Even more so than what is delivered by the standard 2022 Kia EV6. Also notable is that Car and Driver states that there will be software changes in order to mimic a limited-slip differential, even though no LSD will be present.
The EV6 GT will have visual changes
In 2022, it isn’t enough to just give a car performance, it has to look the part as well. With the EV6 GT, several key visual tweaks are made for a more aggressive look. These changes include yellow brake calipers as well as other yellow accents. Which are designed to invoke the power output of this electric SUV.
On the interior of the EV6 GT, buyers will find heavily bolstered seats. And although not many will take their Kia to track day, the sporty seats will help you stay in place as you enjoy the performance that your EV crossover has to offer. All of these changes happen while retaining the practicality of the base EV6. Which includes room for cargo and seating for up to five adult passengers comfortably.
How much will the Kia EV6 GT cost?
Currently, the most expensive 2022 Kia EV6 costs $55,900, so we expect the GT trim to cost somewhere above that. The Kia EV6 GT-Line AWD offers many of the visual changes that the GT will have, but it does not have the same level of power. It only comes with 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque.
But for those who don’t want a vehicle with north of 550 hp, the GT-Line is likely enough. We still love that Kia is exploring performance models though. Especially considering the EV6 GT will be one of the most powerful Kia vehicles on the market. Being an electric SUV does not mean that you can’t be fun. And surely this EV crossover from Kia will prove that.
