Additionally, the plug-in hybrid from Kia only makes 139 horsepower with its 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The engine is identical to the standard hybrid version; only the battery pack grows to increase the electric range for the PHEV variant.

Next, the Niro gets a combined city and highway rating of 105 MPGe. Lastly, once the fuel tank is completely drained, the Niro can keep driving; It makes it 26 miles, which is excellent for a plug-in hybrid.

On the other hand, the Mini Countryman comes standard with all-wheel drive. Additionally, the SUV makes 221 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque, much higher than the Niro. Despite its better overall performance, the Mini takes a hit to efficiency.

Using the all-electric battery, the Mini can drive 17 miles. Additionally, it gets a combined rating of 73 MPGe or 29 mpg.
