The Kia Seltos is going into 2023 without any major updates, except for the price. The new 2023 Kia Seltos, across the range, is about $250 more than the outgoing 2022 version. With 2023 models heading to showrooms soon, it’s likely that you’ll be able to find a deal on a 2022 and save even more. The Seltos is Kia’s entry-level SUV. It slots below the Sportage, but actually has more cargo room, by two cubic feet, better ground clearance, and the same engine. If you get lucky, you may even buy a 2002 Kia Seltos with the Nightfall package.

How much is a 2023 Kia Seltos?

Kia recently released pricing for the 2023 Seltos, and it’s $250 more for the same vehicle. The new Seltos is the same vehicle, but with a few more standard features for your $250. The new one adds Blindspot Collision Avoidance-Rear and Rear-Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance to the base S FWD and S AWD trim levels. It also gets some extra noise reduction, which is always appreciated. You can also order a 10.25-inch navigation screen with satellite radio and telematics. Forward collision avoidance assist with pedestrian detection. Lane-keeping assist, and some other driver aids are standard if you buy a 2022 Kia Seltos.

The 2023 Seltos starts at $22,590 for the front-wheel drive LX model. It was $22,840 last year and a best-seller. The S starts at $22,890 in 2023, but was $22,790 in 2022. The EX and SX models are the top trims, and the SX comes with a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel like a race car. There are two engine options, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 146 horsepower that has a CVT, or a 1.6-liter four-cylinder that makes 175 horsepower. The more-powerful engine only comes in the SX and Nightfall editions.

The Kia Seltos Nightfall Edition starts at $27,040 and includes the hot 1.6-liter turbocharged motor paired with the quick-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. While it’s not exactly a performance SUV like a Porsche Cayenne, the Nightfall looks the part with blacked-out trim and 18-inch wheels, a roof rack, and a special grille. It also comes standard with Kia Drive Wise features and all-wheel drive standard, and a 10.25-inch display. If you can find a 2022 Nightfall Edition Kia Seltos, it should be priced at $26,790.

Is the Seltos Reliable?

Well, it depends. Neither Consumer Reports nor J.D. Power says its expected reliability is among the best. But it’s not the worst. The Seltos does have a five-year, 60,000-mile, warranty with 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage and complimentary maintenance. The Kia brand, however, does have an above-average reliability rating. J.D. Power ranks the Seltos in 5th place in its category, above the Chevy Trax.
