The 2022 Kia Seltos gets a decent Consumer Reports rating, and comes with a good amount of safety equipment. Yet it still isn’t a top subcompact SUV. What gives? Is the 2022 Kia Seltos a good car, or are its drawbacks too big to overcome?

The 2022 Kia Seltos has a decent road test score

Consumer Reports gives the 2022 Kia Seltos a good 3/5 for its acceleration. It can reach 0 to 60 in 9 seconds. Its transmission scores a 4/5. Routine and emergency handling both receive a very good 4/5. The Kia Seltos’s max avoidance speed is 55 mph.

The Kia Seltos gets a perfect 5/5 for its braking. It can brake from 60 mph on dry pavement in 128 feet and 133 feet on wet pavement. The Seltos’s headlights only score a 4/5.

As far as comfort, the 2022 Kia Seltos only gets a 2/5 for its ride. It also only gets a 2/5 for its noise. Front-seat comfort is lacking, with just a 3/5. Rear seat comfort gets a 4/5. Interior fit and finish get an okay 3. The trunk and cargo space scores only a 2/5, with just 28 cubic feet of storage space.

The Seltos comes with a lot of safety features

The 2022 Kia Seltos comes standard with most important safety features. It comes with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking for the city, lane-keeping assistance, lane departure warning, pedestrian detection, blind spot warning. It also comes with a rearview camera, anti lock brakes, traction control, stability control. Daytime running lights and rear cross traffic warning are optional. Unfortunately, automatic emergency braking for the highway isn’t available for the 2022 Kia Seltos. 

Both the IIHS and NHTSA have crash-tested the 2022 Kia Seltos. The IIHS gives it all good ratings. The NHTSA gives it four stars for overall crash, overall frontal-crash, and overall frontal-crash: passenger side. The overall frontal-crash: driver, overall side crash, overall side crash: driver and rear passenger sides, and side pole crash are all five stars. The rating for the 2WD and 4WD rollover is four stars.

The Kia Seltos’ predicted reliability is decent

Consumer Reports gives the 2022 Kia Seltos a good 3/5 for its predicted reliability. There isn’t any information about this score. The Seltos gets a good 3/5. The driving experience gets a 64, while comfort gets a 64. Styling gets an 80, and value is a 52, which is high for a value score. There’s no information about how many people would buy the Seltos again. 

Overall, the 2022 Kia Seltos is a decent subcompact SUV, but there may be better choices out there, depending on what you’re looking for. It’s important to decide what your priorities are, and weigh the data for any vehicle you’re considering.
