2022 Lamborghini Countach Video Lets the Legend be Heard
The Lamborghini Countach, in its original form, was a car that captured the imagination of virtually every car fanatic throughout its nearly two-decade production run. In the 1980s, it was the ultimate poster car that one could find on bedroom walls worldwide. Now, Lamborghini’s new Countach is out and about. Turn up the volume and enjoy the tones this limited edition $2.6 million Lamborghini makes as it tears up the road!
Top Gear takes on the Stelvio Pass in the new Countach
In a recent video posted to the Top Gear Youtube channel, host Ollie Marriage takes the all-new Countach up a legendary bit of road. The Stelvio Pass is a winding road in the eastern Alps in northern Italy. It features over 40 hairpin turns with winding roads and straights tangling back and forth with breathtaking mountain views a plenty. Often, it’s referred to as one of the best driving roads in the world.
So, it’s only appropriate that the newest rendition of one of the best cars in the world finds its way onto the Stelvio Pass. If you can forgive and move past Marriage’s absolute butchery of the proper pronunciation of Countach (It’s not “cown-tatch,” Ollie), this video offers some beautiful insight into the brand new historic raging bull that we have not yet seen.
After an unexpected run-in with a former Aryton Senna-driven F1 car, Marriage set off up the Stelvio pass. After a bit of a history lesson on the road itself, we finally get to hear the ferocious V12 engine powering the Countach.
The Stelvio pass is no flat-out road, either. With all kinds of bumps, twists and super tight hairpin turns, it actually requires some careful driving and thought. Marriage explains that this is especially true in a Lamborghini. In some turns, he even needs the front-end lift system to clear road hazards.
Some Lamborghini enthusiasts thought that the electrification of the Countach would kill its legendary sound. This video, however, puts that thought well to rest. It still absolutely screams.
How fast is the 2022 Lamborghini Countach?
According to DuPont Registry, the 2022 Lamborghini Countach can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 2.7 seconds. Additionally, it will eventually go on to reach its top speed of 220 miles per hour.
This comes courtesy of the legendary V12 powerplant behind the driver. It’s a 6.5-liter V12 engine that makes an astonishing 769 horsepower at 8,500 RPM. Accompanying that horsepower output is 531 pound-feet of torque. Its electric motor adds 34 horsepower and 26 pound-feet of torque, bringing the grand total to 803 horsepower.
All of that ferocious power makes its way through a seven-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels. It really is the ultimate in Lamborghini performance for the time being.
That being said, it’s likely that none of the customer cars will ever be driven as their design intends. Only 112 2022 Lamborghini Countach examples will come to fruition. Despite the prohibitive $2.64 million price tag, they’re all sold out already.
Still, it’s pretty cool to see this homage to Lamborghini heritage. Bask in the video, though. There’s a good chance you’ll never see one in person!
