As we continue to mourn the 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser not coming to the states, many have begun to look elsewhere for that old familiar feeling. Thankful we have the 2022 Lexus LX 600 to ogle and never actually buy. Just like the Toyota Land Cruiser, it is very expensive, super capable, and will likely not sell very many. But, unlike the Land Cruiser, it is pretty ugly. 

Is America getting the 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser? 

For the last time, no. Toyota has judged the U.S. and found us unworthy of the super rad luxury off-roader. But, there is good news. For the few actually planning to buy the LC, the 2022 Lexus LX 600 is basically the same thing. 

As noted by Gear Patrol, the Lexus LX 600 has a twin-turbo V6 paired with a 10-speed automatic, much like the all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra and, you guessed it, the 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser. This fancy off-roader makes a whopping 409 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. That is 26 more horses and 76 more torques than the 2021 Lexus LX 570 and weighs 441 lbs less, to boot. 

Needless to say, the new one is better, but it doesn’t look any better. Just look at that whale’s mouth of a grill. It looks more like it’s meant to gather krill in the ocean than air for an engine. 

Is the 2022 Lexus LX 600 actually good off-road? 

You can bet the Land Cruiser you never bought it is. Although it has an “L” for a badge, it has multiple off-roading modes, rock-crawling modes included. The active suspension can be raised and lowered for added ground clearance and the full-time four-wheel-drive still has high and low ranges.

The interior is a big step up from the 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser 

Lexus dressed the LX 600 is some fine threads, indeed. The LX got a much-needed interior upgrade with an all-new infotainment system. This new one comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The top touchscreen measures 12.3 inches diagonally, while the second one measures 7.0 inches.

The Ultra Luxury comes in a four-seat configuration and offers fancy cushions and headrests to optimize comfort, a footrest for the rear passenger’s-side rider, added air vents for the second row, and an added screen. Aside from the comfort, this interior looks like a million bucks. 

With saddle-brown, quilted leather upholstery paired with black accents, the Lexus LX 600 is hard to top unless you get into the ultra-lux world of min vans. (For real, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica is nicer than anything you could ever imagine.) 

When is the 2022 Lexus LX 600 available? 

Unlike the 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser, the 2022 Lexus LX 600 should hit American lots in early 2022, production delays notwithstanding. Hopefully, people actually buy this one this time. Similar to a manual transmission and fun colors, people love to fuss when manufacturers stop making them, but very few people actually buy them. Here’s to hoping the LX 600 does better than the Land Cruiser.
