We’re not getting the new Toyota Land Cruiser here in the United States, thanks to the dismal sales of the old 300-series Land Cruiser. So what is one to do, if they were waiting with breathless abatement for the new one to be released? Buy the new 2022 Lexus LX 600. Sure, it isn’t exactly a Land Cruiser, but it’s pretty darn close. 

The 2022 Lexus LX 600 can (almost) off-road like a Toyota Land Cruiser 

If you want a Land Cruiser, it might be because you plan on taking your SUV off-roading. That means that the 2022 Lexus LX 600 may be equipped with the same engine as the 2022 Land Cruiser. According to Car and Driver, this is a twin-turbo 3.9-liter V6 that can put out 409-hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. It should come standard with four-wheel drive and be matched to a ten-speed automatic transmission. Sure, you don’t typically see a Lexus charging over muddy trails, but you just might start to. 

There’s even the possibility that the 2022 LX 600 may come with an available hybrid power train. After all, Lexuses have increasingly come with this option, and Toyota is joining other car manufacturers in producing more and more electric vehicles. 

Is Lexus going to redesign the LX?

The 2022 Lexus LX 600 should look very different from older incarnations of the luxury SUV. Of course, it will still look like a Lexus, with the familiar grille (though it may be a bit oversized on the latest model). While the typical Lexus is known for its curves, the new 2022 Lexus LX will be more square, boxier, like the Land Cruiser. 

The interior should scream the luxury that LX 600 owners would expect. After all, the 2022 Lexus LX 600 is set to start at about $90,000. For that kind of money, customers would want a freshly designed, top-of-the-line cabin to ride in. And by all indications, they’ll get it. 

When will the 2022 Lexus LX be revealed?

We’ll finally officially see the 2022 Lexus LX 600 on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. The LX 600 will be revealed at 12:30 p.m., so if you’ve been waiting on the edge of your seat for the new Lexus, you can mark your calendar. 

Even though the United States may not be getting the newest Land Cruiser, those who love the 300-series Land Cruiser and are disappointed that it won’t be offered here don’t have to do (completely) without. Though anyone interested in the 2022 LX 600 will certainly be paying a premium for the luxury version of the 300-series Land Cruiser, the LX 600 should be a nice alternative to its rugged cousin. 

The 2022 Lexus LX 600 debuts on October 13, and then we should get a good look at everything new coming with it. Though just how much the new LX resembles the old 300-series Land Cruiser remains to be seen, but we’ll know soon enough.
