The 2022 Mazda CX-50 Gained Incredible Off-Roading Upgrades
Upgrades alert! The 2022 Mazda CX-50 will be equipped to go where most Mazda SUVs have never gone before. Teasers for the new Mazda CX-50 show the SUV going through the forest and conquering the wild.
The 2022 Mazda CX-50 has more off-roading chops
We are counting the minutes until we get to see the 2022 Mazda CX-50. The new Mazda CX-50 will officially debut on November 15. Until then, all we can do is obsess over teaser images and videos.
The latest video shows the CX-50 going through the rainforest. It looks like it could be driving on a gravel road. There is also some type of camping equipment or possibly a canoe on top of the roof rack.
This is pretty exciting news for Mazda fans that wish their SUVs could do a little more adventuring. But we will have to wait a few more days to learn about its suspension upgrades for tackling the wild.
What do we know about the CX-50?
The 2022 Mazda CX-50 is getting the party started for larger SUVs. It will be the first to debut, then the CX-70 and the CX-90 will follow in its tracks. There is always new terrain for these new rides to find.
Don’t worry. The CX-50 isn’t replacing the Mazda CX-5. The CX-5 will continue to be an entry-level model. Also, the CX-50 will ride on the same platform as the Mazda3 and CX-30 despite being a mid-size SUV.
The CX-50 is considered to be an active-lifestyle SUV with enhanced all-wheel-drive capabilities. The editors here that have test driven the CX-5, CX-30, and other models agree that they perform well in the snow and other slippery conditions.
The CX-50 is expected to have the Skyactiv 2.5-liter and 2.5-liter inline-four turbo engines as other models. It’s possible that it could have more power. Also, we can still hope for a hybrid powertrain.
Production will begin in January 2022 at the new Mazda plant in Alabama. Mazda shares the plant with Toyota, and the Toyota Corolla Cross is built there as well. The two SUVs may share a few components.
What else is new for Mazda?
The 2022 Mazda CX-50 is the first new SUV to emerge. The Mazda CX-70 and CX-90 will serve as more prominent options. They will replace the Mazda CX-9 and ride on a new platform with a longitudinally-mounted powertrain.
Plus, they will gain the gas-powered inline-six engine, so expect them to have more power. Plug-in electric hybrid powertrains are also expected to enter the mix. The CX-70 will offer two rows, and the CX-90 will have three.
The larger SUVs will provide what Americans want, more room. Currently, the CX-9 receives criticism for having a snug third row and limited cargo space. But it still serves as a comfortable and luxurious daily driver.
Soon fans will get everything they love about Mazda vehicles in a larger package. They are still expected to have luxury refinement with a sporty attitude. Only they will zoom zoom to more adventurous locations.
