Yes, if you want a near-luxury vehicle without compromising on comfort or power, then the 2022 Mazda3 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus is an excellent car to consider. I just spent a week with one traversing crowded city streets, curvy mountain roads, and backcountry roads.

It provided an engaging and confident performance with premium comfort. But luxury does come with a cost. The Mazda3 starts at about $20,800, while the Turbo Premium Plus increases the price to around $33,000.

So, that’s about a $13,000 upgrade to consider! Either way, we recommend going with the more powerful engine. The standard engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder option with 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque.

You can upgrade to the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine for 186 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque. The 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine provides up to 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque.

According to Edmunds, with the 2.5-liter engine, the Mazda3 accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.3 seconds, but the Turbo helps it reach 60 mpg in about 6.1 seconds.

What comes with the Turbo Premium Plus?

The Mazda3 sedan is available in three trim levels that correspond with the engines. You can pick the Mazda3 2.0, 2.5 S, or 2.5 Turbo. The S is available with AWD amd it’s standard with the Turbo. Each trim is available in a hatchback body style too.

The Mazda 3 2.0 comes with:

  • The 2.0-liter engine
  • 16-inch alloy wheels
  • LED headlights
  • Rain-sensing wipers
  • An 8.8-inch infotainment display
  • The eight-speaker audio system

The 2022 Mazda 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus comes with:

  • The 2.5-liter turbocharged engine
  • All-wheel drive
  • 18-inch black-painted wheels
  • Auto-dimming rearview mirror
  • Head-up display
  • Paddle shifters
  • Sunroof
  • Heated seats/heated steering wheel
  • Leather upholstery
  • Adaptive headlights
  • Integrated navigation
  • 12-speaker Bose Audio system
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Power-adjustable driver’s seat
  • 360-degree camera display
  • Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert
  • Keyless ignition and entry

So the Mazda3 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus does add plenty of comfort and luxury. The steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters and head-up display make the ride more engaging, especially on the highway.

Does the 2.5 Turbo have a good performance?

Yes, the 2022 Mazda3 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus is impressive with quick acceleration and responsive handling. It feels balanced and confident with excellent corning, but there is a little body roll.

The Mazda3 is a sporty sedan, so the suspension is a little stiff. As a result, the ride is a little bumpy compared to rivals, but more significant impacts are easily absorbed. The cabin is relatively quiet, but wind noise is slightly noticeable at highway speeds.

Plus, the Mazda3 is agile. It’s easy to maneuver in tight city areas. Parking this ride isn’t a challenge, and the 360-degree display helps you steer clear of any obstacles. It’s incredibly convenient.

Stay tuned for a full review that covers more technical specs and details. There are a few pros and cons to share. However, upgrading to the 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus is worth every penny.
