The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS Might be the Next Work From Home Setup
German automaker Mercedes-Benz is known for pushing the envelope when it comes to luxurious, high-tech vehicles. The all-new Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan is no exception, the first model in MB’s electrification plan for 2022. With its available 580-hp hybrid powertrain setup and handling enhancements, it should be a popular EV when released.
MotorTrend also took a look at just how much technology is packed inside the Mercedes-Benz EQS. Now, if you’ve got the bucks for a Benz, we know you probably don’t need to live in your car. However, you might still be tempted to use the EQS as a home office.
Top-of-the-line seating
Two seating options are offered, but the comfort one is standard and ideal for a long day of work. You can switch between adjustability options with touch controls. Ambient lighting is also standard, which can be set to change depending on your mood. You can also configure it to respond to any music you might play while working.
Once you get comfortable, you can control all the infotainment settings through the available Hyperscreen. This massive touchscreen stretches across the front of the dashboard, but the standard projecting touchscreen looks just as futuristic.
If you’d rather work from the backseat, spring for the available Executive Rear Seat package. It includes massaging controls and reclining seats, plus heating for your neck and shoulders. Headrest pillows are also standard for the front seat riders.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS has a lot of USB ports
Each Mercedes-Benz EQS comes standard with six USB-C ports, but you can get a total of 10. With just six USB-C ports, you get 100 watts of power, which MotorTrend notes are enough for charging a laptop. With this option, you can work from the comfort of your car all day without any interruptions.
You also don’t have to worry about your laptop running out of power during an important video meeting. When your laptop’s juiced up, you can use those ports to charge any phones or tablets you might use for work or breaks.
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz AG EQS gives you your own digital assistant
By prompting “Hey, Mercedes” inside the Mercedes-Benz EQS, the software can adjust any comfort or audio setting whilst you multitask. MB says that the software is reportedly smarter now, able to make suggestions based on your moods and routines. It can also keep track of important meetings or remind the workaholics when it’s time to quit for the day.
You can also ask the assistant to open the car doors for you, in cases where your hands are full. As you use this program, you can unlock cool easter eggs, like a different backdrop for your MBUX infotainment system.
Other cabin luxuries inside the Mercedes-Benz EQS
Breaks are important during the workday, so the Mercedes-Benz EQS comes with a standard panoramic sunroof for some fresh air. An overhead camera system observes your movements and adjusts the interior lighting and temperature to keep your spirits up during the grind. The lights dim during nap mode and soothing music plays as your seat automatically fully reclines.
If you’d rather keep the windows and roof sealed, you can still ventilate the cabin with the built-in fragrance system. You can also filter out potentially infectious particles with the optional HEPA filter.
Ready for a business trip
According to the automaker, the Mercedes-Benz EQS reportedly has a range of 478 miles. MotorTrend speculates that the EPA will drop it below 400 miles, but that’s still enough for a business trip an hour away. The battery also recharges at a swift pace with a DC fast charger, up to 80 percent in 35 minutes.
The navigation system tells you where the nearest charging stations are located and can plan your route accordingly. The charging system software also stores your credit card info, so you can “fuel” up without hassle.
