As you can see, customers can get into the new Altima starting just under $25,000 and go all the way up to $34,250 for the Platinum trim. That is quite a wide range in price but that is because there are plenty of options for buyers to choose from.

The table above shows that there are five different trim options for the 2022 Nissan Altima: S, SV, SR, SL, and Platinum. The “S” trims have FWD and AWD options while the Premium is only available in AWD. The SR has two engine options: a standard 2.5-liter and a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine.

Nissan is also offering a “Midnight Edition” package with “black out” exterior trim, LED fog lights, heated front seats, single panel moonroof, gloss black front grille, gloss black rear spoiler, gloss-black 19-inch alloy wheels, and Midnight Edition badge.

The Midnight Edition package will be available only for the SR trim with the 2.5-liter standard engine.

The standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine found in the 2022 Nissan Altima has 188 horsepower. The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine available for the SR trim has 236 horsepower. Both engines come standard with Nissan’s “Xtronic” transmission, but the SR has an option for paddle shifters.

The turbocharged engine features a Variable Compression (VC) system that can actively change the compression ratio of a cylinder depending on the fly. The system can drop the compression to 8:1 to optimize boost pressure. It can also raise the compression ratio to 14:1 for increased efficiency.

We’re not sure why Nissan has been so quiet about the new Altima but it could be a compelling option for those wanting a capable sedan for under $35k.
