Where Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier Built?
The hype surrounding the 2022 Nissan Frontier is real. For the first time in nearly two decades, Nissan has given the Frontier an almost complete redesign. The updates made to the 2022 Frontier have led it to become a fairly popular mid-size truck, currently only selling second to the Toyota Tacoma. So, where is the new Nissan Frontier built, and is it actually a pickup that is worth buying?
Where is Nissan building the 2022 Frontier?
Since 2012, the Frontier has been built in Mississippi. Specifically at the Nissan Canton Vehicle Assembly Plant in Canton, MS. For 2022, a nearly all-new Frontier is rolling off of the assembly line, and there is quite a bit to like about it. This mid-size truck boasts a standard V6 engine, refined suspension, and legitimate capability. It is for these reasons that the success of the Frontier just makes sense.
Plus, the exterior of the 2022 Frontier just looks plain tough. Prior to 2022, the Frontier had really started to show its age, but that is no longer the case. Nissan has also updated the interior of this pickup to make it feel more modern and comfortable.
Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier a good truck?
While the Frontier has never really been one of the most popular trucks, the 2022 model could change that. Nissan’s mid-size pickup now boasts a standard V6 engine that makes 310 horsepower. This is fairly notable when you consider that other trucks make you pay extra in order to get the power of a six-cylinder engine.
Additionally, the Frontier is still ready to do truck stuff. When properly equipped it can tow up to 6,720 pounds. And that may not be as much as other mid-size pickup trucks, it is still enough to tow your favorite toys to the lake for the weekend.
Where does the Nissan Frontier fall short?
No truck is going to be perfect, and that certainly applies to the 2022 Frontier. In terms of interior comfort, the Frontier still does not offer a telescopic steering wheel. This negates how much you can adjust the steering wheel to get that optimal comfort. According to Car and Driver, steering at low speeds can also feel fairly heavy, which isn’t a deal-breaker, but it is worth noting.
Perhaps the biggest downfall of prior Frontier models was the dated interior. Now, Nissan has improved the interior significantly to help this pickup feel more modern and to make it a nicer place to be. Things like wind noise have been reduced to help the driving experience at highway speeds.
Nissan’s mid-size truck is ready for duty
Whether you are shopping for a work truck or an off-road vehicle, that 2022 Frontier can fulfill a number of automotive roles with ease. Nissan is still selling the PRO-4X trim on the Frontier, which adds some serious capability to this truck. Of course, that does come with an additional price tag.
For the base model of this Mississippi-built truck, expect to pay around $30,000 before options. Making this pickup relatively affordable.
