Where does the 2022 Frontier fall short?

Although the Frontier is now in its third generation, its underpinnings still date back to the early 2000s. Depending on your preference, this could be a pro or a con. This truck does come with a new V6 engine, but it drives distinctly old-school. The steering feels heavy, and the ride is not as refined as other vehicles in this segment. 

Other places that this truck may fall short are a tilt-only steering wheel and a lack of groundbreaking technology. But you can get the 2022 Frontier for under $30,000, so some of these things can be overlooked. 

Should you buy a Nissan Frontier?

If you are in the market for a new mid-size truck, the 2022 Frontier is worthy of consideration. This pickup comes standard with a V6 engine that makes 310 horsepower. In comparison, the 2022 Tacoma comes standard with a four-cylinder engine and its available V6 is not as potent as the Frontier’s.

But models like the Toyota Tacoma and Ford Ranger bring a little bit more to the table. However, they don’t feel as no-nonsense as the new Frontier. Like most vehicles on the road, this mid-size pickup is available in a variety of configurations. These range from a work truck spec to the off-road-ready Nissan Frontier PRO-4X. There should be a new Frontier out there to handle most needs. 

What’s the verdict on Nissan’s mid-size truck?

Every vehicle will have its weak and strong points, but the 2022 Nissan Frontier is a decent enough truck. It has become the second best-selling mid-size truck, second only to the 2022 Tacoma. And that should be a good indication that buyers like what they find when they get behind the wheel of this pickup.
