This 2022 Nissan Frontier Trim May Be Best
The 2022 Nissan Frontier is a mid-size truck that is available in a range of different trim levels. Because of this, drivers shopping for a new pickup can likely find an option that matches their needs and budget. What may be surprising, is that for most buyers, the top-trim Frontier may not be necessary. Especially for those who do not plan on off-roading their truck on a regular basis. In our opinion, one of the best Frontier trims available is the SV package, which is a step above the base trim.
What is the Nissan Frontier SV?
The 2022 Frontier SV is a step above the base Nissan Frontier model. It can come with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, which makes it ideal for filling a variety of automotive roles. It is also available with a longer bed, which is perfect for drivers who plan to haul longer gear, equipment, or other things.
Like all Frontier models, it comes standard with a 3.8-liter V6 engine. With this powertrain, owners will enjoy 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. Which will likely be ample enough for most driving situations. Also notable is that when properly equipped, the Frontier SV can tow up to 6,670 lbs and haul up to 1,610 lbs, and that gives this truck serious usability.
How expensive is the 2022 Frontier SV pickup truck?
In terms of cost, the Frontier SV has a starting MSRP of $31,390. And while that is not as cheap as something like a Ford Maverick, it is cheaper than the Frontier PRO-4X. We feel this price is fair for what you get with the Frontier, and it doesn’t necessarily mean having to break the bank to buy a new truck.
As you add various options or opt for a different configuration of the SV trim, the price will change in reflection of that. When outfitted with the crew cab, 4WD, and long bed, the Frontier SV has a cost of $37,690, which is less than $1,000 cheaper than the most expensive Frontier truck.
Is the Frontier worth buying?
After what seemed like an eternity, the Frontier is finally in a new generation and we feel it is worth buying. While Car and Driver does note that the frame is still the same as previous Frontier models, it does have a revised suspension, standard V6 engine, and styling improvements. Because of this, you will not be buying a mid-size truck that has pretty much been the same for over a decade.
