The 2022 Nissan Murano is the Japanese automaker’s midsize SUV. The Murano isn’t as competitive as rivals like the Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade, and Subaru Outback. Still, the midsize SUV offers plenty of value for many drivers. Which trims should you want, pass on, and buy?

The 2022 Nissan Murano may not have great driving dynamics or the most comfortable interior, but the midsize SUV features some great tech. If you want the best tech that Nissan has to offer, the Murano Platinum is the Murano trim you want.

The Nissan Murano Platinum starts at $44,860. Drivers can add all-wheel drive to the midsize SUV for a grand total of $46,560. The Murano Platinum uses a 3.5-liter V6 engine to make 260 horsepower. It achieves 20 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon on the highway.

The 2022 Nissan Murano Platinum comes standard with a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless entry, and heated mirrors. It also features a hands-free liftgate, adaptive cruise control, and smart device integration.

The Murano Platinum includes heated front and rear seats, a blind-spot monitor, and electronic stability control. It also comes with lane-keeping assist, turn signal mirrors, and brake assist. The final trim level Murano is the trim to want because of its advanced driver assistance and safety features. These standard features make driving both safer and easier. Unfortunately for Nissan, the Murano Platinum’s starting price will deter most drivers from buying the midsize SUV over more affordable alternatives.

Nissan Murano S, SL: Pass

The Nissan Murano SL starts at $40,810. It offers more standard features than the base model S and SV trims, but the Murano SL is too expensive for most drivers. Many drivers will pass on the Murano S because it’s too basic and pass on the Murano SL because it’s out of their price range.

2022 Nissan Murano SV: Buy

The Nissan Murano SV starts at $36,850. It costs $3,540 more than the Murano base model.

The Murano SV adds features like a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, heated front seats, and leatherette seating upholstery. It also comes with front parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and LED fog lights.

The 2022 Nissan Murano is a buy because it isn’t as barebones as the base model. It comes with features that make the midsize SUV more comfortable and luxurious for an affordable price. These features improve the Murano’s overall ownership experience. Car and Driver recommends the Murano SV over other trim levels. The Nissan Murano SV offers plenty of value, but the Kia Telluride is a better midsize SUV overall.
