2022 Polaris Slingshot Signature LE Brings the Bling and Glow

Polaris gives the Slingshot some extra flash and features with the 2022 Slingshot Signature LE. It doesn't have the Slingshot R's power, but it does have some otherwise optional goodies as standard, a special red-black-and-bronze paint job, and some model-specific bronze wheels. Also, extra color-changing LEDs.

Subtlety isn’t in the Polaris Slingshot style guide, but that’s part of its exuberant charm. And owners who aren’t satisfied with the Slingshot’s myriad of optional colors and extras often turn to the aftermarket for extra extroverted energy. However, you might not have to do that this year if you act fast enough. As part of its three-wheeler’s 2022 upgrade, Polaris is bringing back a limited-edition flashy favorite: the Slingshot Signature LE.

The first thing you likely notice about the 2022 Polaris Slingshot Signature LE is its red-black-and-bronze paint job. No, it’s not an Avengers tie-in, but this ‘Crimson Forge’ color scheme is exclusive to this 2022 Slingshot model. So are the bronze tri-spoke wheels: 18” in front, 20” in the rear.

Besides the fancy paint, the 2022 Polaris Slingshot Signature LE also gets blacked-out badges and full LED lighting around its vented fenders and hood. Speaking of, that fiberglass vented hood is an option on other 2022 Slingshots. So is the Signature LE’s XGLOW LED lighting kit, which puts accent lighting in the footwells, under the seats, and on the sides and center console. It’s not quite underglow, but it does come in three selectable colors: red, blue, and green.

What else is special about the 2022 Polaris Slingshot Signature LE?

Mechanically, the Signature LE is identical to the base and SL models. Buyers can purchase a Stage 1 Performance kit that bumps the LE up to 203 hp, same as the Slingshot R, though. But the kit doesn’t bump the torque up to the R’s 144 lb-ft level, Autoblog notes.

However, the 2022 Polaris Slingshot Signature LE does get a few extra goodies that are optional on other models. It comes standard with heated and ventilated seats, for example, and its 7” touchscreen has built-in Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and GPS navigation with traffic and weather overlays. The R gets the latter as standard, but the former is still optional. And while the SLR and R get 200-watt Rockford Fosgate audio systems, the Signature LE has a 300-watt version with roll hoop-integrated speakers.

Sadly, the 2022 Polaris Slingshot Signature LE doesn’t come standard with the Slingshot R’s new Brembo brakes. Also, paddle shifters are still optional on AutoDrive Signature LEs.

How much does it cost?

Polaris says the first 2022 Slingshot Signature LE orders should be hitting dealerships in early 2022. But if you haven’t gotten your order in, don’t worry, there’s still time. Polaris isn’t limiting total production numbers, though the Signature LE is a 2022-only model. The manual model starts at $34,999; the AutoDrive version starts at $36,749.

Seeing as the 2022 Slingshot R costs $2500 less, while the SLR is $3600 cheaper than that, the Signature LE might not seem worth it. And the R has those Brembo brakes and more power, too.

However, the speakers, blacked-out badges, heated and cooled seats, and LED interior lighting kit alone cost $2150. Also, the LE’s wheels are trim-specific designs in a trim-specific color. Add in the tri-color paint job, and the upcharge arguably makes sense. And while the Brembos are good, the 2021 Slingshot R’s non-Brembo brakes were more than adequate on the road.

Plus, if you get one of these limited-edition 2022 Polaris Slingshots, you won’t have to go aftermarket for extra style.
