The 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 is coming in hot, and by “hot,” I mean expensive. Cars keep getting more and more expensive. However, leave it to the Porsche, the finest go-kart makers in all the land, to run up the price up on the new GT3 a cool $20K. You read that right. 

Porsche has just released more info on the availability and pricing for its new 911 supercar. If you want one of these little buggers, you can place an order as of yesterday, but be prepared to drop a kool (is that how the Germans spell it?) $162,450 (plus the $1,350 destination charge.) In case you were wondering, that is a solid 12 percent increase from the previous model, which sold for $145,650, according to The Drive. 

Specs on the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3

I like to poke fun a Porsche people because, well, they’re dorks. However, that doesn’t mean that I don’t also think the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 isn’t cool. I get why the Porsche bros turn up over these cars. They are thrilling, beautiful, and terrifying things – when driven properly. 

This newest go-kart is set up with the same naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine making 502 raspy, angry horsepowers. Raw power isn’t really what Porsche is all about, although there is plenty of it here in the GT3. On top of all that power, the engine is still stuck in the back to give the GT3 a fun mix of killer, crisp handling and pants-wetting twitchiness if you get out of line at all. 

What’s new for the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3?

The Drive reports that Porsche claims this verison of the 911 GT3 will be the “most agile” 992-generation car yet. There isn’t a ton of information on that side of things yet, but if anything in the chassis, suspension, or drivetrain has been upgraded at all, that claim shouldn’t be too hard to believe. 

There are also loads of new interior features that Porsche has been quite proud of. The drive mentions that the new 911 GT3 now sports a 10.9-inch infotainment screen upgraded to work with the latest verison of Porsche Communication Management (PCM). This is the same system that is in the Porsche Taycan. The PCM is responsible for running all entertainment, navigation, climate control, and hands-free communication. 

The Drive goes on to say that the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 will have the latest in connectivity services like natural speech voice commands, map and real-time traffic updates, and a three-year trial to Apple Music and Apple Podcasts. 

The GT3 isn’t the only Porsche to crank up the cabbages

The 911 Carrera got its price bumped to $101,200, the 911 Targa 4 now costs $121,300, and the 911 Turbo is a screaming $174,300. No matter which way you cut it that is a lot of bread. The Drive notes that, like the 2022 911 GT3, all of these models will also get the new PCM system added. There is even a bonus for those buyers who choose a Porsche with the PDK transmissions. Porsches with the PDK can now get the optional Remote ParkAssist. This feature allows owners to use their smartphones to get their Porsche in and out of parking spots; if you are into that sort of thing. 

I enjoy poking fun at Porsche and Porsche peeps, but in a world where everyone is clambering to convert to EVs as fast a possible, Porsche continues to do its thing. Sure, Porsche has the Taycan, but it is still making old-school race cars for people who really care to test their ability.
