While the Tundra has been the most reliable option for years, Ram just gained an incredible advantage. It outranks the Tundra.
According to the U.S. News, the Ram 1500 has a reliability rating of 86 out of 100. However, the new Tundra gained the same score. So, we went to Consumer Reports for the tiebreaker, and the Ram truck is ranked as above average while the Toyota Tundra has an average rating.
But the Ram truck was remodeled in 2019, giving critics and owners more time to evaluate the truck. The Tundra was just resigned for 2022, so it needs a little more time to be put through the paces.
The Chevy Silverado 1500 earned a score of 83 out of 100, while the Ford F-150 got a 77 out of 100. Also, the Nissan Titan rings in with a reliability score of 85 out of 100.

The Ram 1500 is seen as a durable truck with the ability to last between 250,000 and 300,000 miles. Some owners have made it past 350,000 miles. But the key to longevity is proper care and maintenance.

The previous generation of the Toyota Tundra can easily last between 200,000 to 250,000 miles. However, some drivers have surpassed 300,000 miles. It can make it to 300,000 miles before needing a major repair. Also, Tundras with over 1,000,000 miles exist.
The average cost to maintain a Ram truck annually is about $700, while yearly maintenance costs for the Tundra average about $606. The average yearly maintenance cost for a full-size truck is $936.
Which Ram model should be avoided?
The 2019 Ram 1500 is the model with the most complaints in recent years. However, the 2014 model has the most complaints since the 1500 debuted in 2012. The top three models with the most reports of trouble include the 2014, 2013, and 2012 trucks.
But the 2020, 2021, and 2022 models each have fewer complaints, indicating that the problems may have been solved. The most significant issues for the 2019 Ram include electrical problems, steering issues, and engine trouble.
