2022 Ram 1500 Longhorn Southfork vs. 2021 Ford F-150 SuperCrew King Ranch
The renaming of the Ram 1500 Limited Longhorn 10th Anniversary edition comes in the form of the Southfork. We’re not entirely sure where the Southfork title comes from, but we know Longhorn has Texas roots. The same naming origin is true for its competitor, the Ford F-150 King Ranch. The King Ranch got its name from a real ranch of the same name, located in Kingsville, Texas. The two rival pickup trucks each have their pros and cons but are similarly priced and Texas-themed. So which is better, the 2022 Ram 1500 Longhorn Southfork or the 2021 Ford F-150 SuperCrew King Ranch?
2022 Ram 1500 Longhorn Southfork vs. Ford F-150 King Ranch: Bed and Tailgate
The Longhorn Southfork comes with a multi-function tailgate, Ram’s fancy and innovative tailgate. It sounds gimmicky, but the multi-function tailgate is amazing. Hinges on either side allow the gate to open like 60/40 swing-open doors as well as the standard drop-down tailgate. Opening the gate to the sides allows easier entry into the bed of the truck for both owners and cargo. The tailgate also includes a deployable bed step, which does exactly what the name suggests. Again, making it easier for owners to enter the bed of the truck. Adjustable cargo hooks, LED box lighting, and a cargo divider are also included in the bed of the Longhorn Southfork.
The Ford F-150 King Ranch comes standard with a remote start system with a remote tailgate release. Like the Longhorn Southfork, it also comes equipped with LED box lighting with zone lighting. The F-150 King Ranch and Ram 1500 Longhorn Southfork have nearly identical truck beds. The Longhorn Southfork multi-function tailgate makes it superior.
Yee-haw: you’ll feel western on the interior
Inside the Ram 1500 Longhorn Southfork, you’ll find a few different features and details that give it the Texas influence for which Ram aims. An exclusive Mountain Brown interior color drapes the entirety of the vehicle. The color cannot be found on any other Ram model. Bucket seats and suede door bolsters with leather insert and a laser filigree detail add to the interior, giving it a few extra western touches.
The F-150 King Ranch features color-coordinated carpet with carpeted King Ranch floor mats, a Mesa leather-wrapped steering wheel, and unique genuine wood interior trim accents. The standard bucket seats are also trimmed out with King Ranch leather. Optional packages available only to the King Ranch include a King Ranch chrome appearance package and a monochromatic paint package. The chrome appearance package adds a few extra chrome pieces like bumpers and door handles, and the monochromatic package adds two-tone delete exterior paint.
