It measures up pretty well to the new Range Rover, going pound-for-pound with its loads of features.

Like the Range Rover, before it was a style icon it was a performance machine. The available 19- or 20-inch wheels start your all-terrain journey, backed up by 4-wheel drive and three lockable differentials. Climbing, fording depth, and more give this off-road beast more than enough capability.

What engine does the G-Wagon have?

The 2021 Mercedes G-Wagon comes with a 4.0-liter V8 Biturbo engine. It’s capable of producing up to 416-hp, which slots in slightly above the Range Rover’s mild-hybrid. It can move from 0 mph to 60 in just 5.6 seconds, which is actually slower than the Range Rover’s 4.4 seconds.

The G-Wagon’s V8 engine is just about the middle-road between the two Range Rover engines. Having fewer options is always a negative attribute, so the points definitely go to Land Rover’s SUV in that aspect. Another disadvantage to the Mercedes G-Wagon is the price.

Which one costs more?

Both of these two vehicles will cost you a pretty penny to own. Each one has a few different options that range from expensive to extremely expensive. The Range Rover wins in this category again, because it has more options than Mercedes’ offering.

Though the Range Rover has four models that start at a cheaper price than every G-Wagon, its highest trims get far more pricey. The G-Wagon starts high but doesn’t go up too much, mostly due to only having one trim level.
