Be careful. If you blink, you could miss the chance to buy a brand new Subaru Crosstrek. Dealerships are having trouble keeping the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek in stock because it’s flying off the lots faster than any other option. 

The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek is going fast 

First of all, congratulations to the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek. According to AutoWeek, it’s the fastest-selling vehicle. The Crosstrek takes about 7.8 to move off the lot. It’s an unexpected victory for the compact option. 

However, the Crosstrek may have an advantage with available inventory. If you can find a Kia Telluride, Ford Maverick, or Ford Bronco on the lot without a crazy high markup, then it’s a miracle. 

The average new vehicle sticks around the lot for about 24.6 days. This seems like a pretty long time with today’s inventory shortages. A used vehicle stays on the lot for an average of about 32.8 days. 

Also, Toyota and Lexus vehicles account for 11 options on the fastest-selling new vehicle list. Six of the vehicles are hybrid options. 

What’s so great about the 2022 Crosstrek? 

Reportedly, part of the reason why the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek is so popular goes back to significant 2021 updates. For example, the Crosstrek got a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 182 hp and 176 lb-ft of torque. 

Base models still come with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 152 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque, so the new engine substantially increases power. 

With the standard engine, the Subaru Crosstrek can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 10.4 seconds, which is slower than the class average. But the Crosstreek reaches 60 mph in about 8.4 seconds with the new engine. 

But despite having more power, the Crosstrek still can’t tow much. It can only pull up to 1,500 lbs when properly equipped. 

Each Crosstrek model comes standard with Subaru Symmetrical all-wheel drive system. This is an excellent perk for those who live in areas that receive inclement weather or want to go adventuring. 

Does the 2022 Crosstrek have enough value? 

You can get started in the 2022 Subaru Crosstrek for about $22,645. That’s one attractive MRSP, but it doesn’t include the destination fee or dealership markups. Plus, you’ll want to upgrade to the 2.5-liter engine. 

The Crosstrek gets an EPA-estimated 28 mpg in the city and up to 33 mpg on the highway. That’s one excellent fuel economy. 

In typical Subaru fashion, lower trim levels are a little bland. The interior consists of durable materials that are easy to clean. Trims over $30,000 start to spice things up with pops of carbo fiver trim and leather upholstery. 

Most trims come with a 6.5-inch infotainment screen. The top-spec trims feature an 8.0-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard. Higher trims can be equipped with built-in navigation. 

Not many safety features are included, but you can opt for automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assistant, and adaptive cruise control. 

It seems like the lower trims are pretty basic. You’ll have to go up in trim levels to get more standard features, but rivals still offer more standard driver features and more power for a sportier experience.
