On the performance front, all 2022 Subaru Forester models have a 2.5-liter flat-four engine (182 hp). In comparison, the Crosstrek has two engine options: a base 2.0-liter flat-four engine (152 hp) and a 2.5-liter flat-four engine (182 hp). The Crosstrek offers crossover SUV buyers the choice of either a manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT), while all Forester models come standard with a CVT.
