2022 Subaru Impreza base trim: standard safety, but no luxe

Starting at $18,795

The Impreza base trim level is available in sedan and 5-door hatchback styling, and both start under $20,000—pretty impressive for today’s car prices. If you’re a fan of the stick, both 2022 Impreza base models come standard with a 5-speed manual. The CVT is optional. Like most Subaru models, the Impreza base comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The Impreza includes a suite of EyeSight safety features in this compact car’s equally compact price tag.

But, while the base model boasts a strong showing in safety, its lackluster interior may leave something to be desired.

2022 Subaru Impreza Premium: all-weather readiness, still under $25,000

Starting at $22,195

What’s the difference between the Subaru Impreza base and Premium trim levels? Some have criticized the base trim level for having a disappointing amount of standard features, and the 2022 Impreza Premium sedan and hatchback doesn’t arrive with much more. One of the biggest standout features in this Impreza trim level is the All-Weather Package with heated front seats, but a lot of the other options in the Impreza Premium are just that—options.

2022 Subaru Impreza Sport: live your sports-car dreams on a budget

Starting at $23,595

There’s a greater difference between the Impreza Premium and Sport trim levels, with 2022 Impreza Sport sedans and hatchbacks placing an emphasis on their good looks. Body-matching rocker spoilers and a trunk spoiler and special Sport cloth upholstery (with feisty red stitching) in the interior give the Impreza Sport an edge over its more mild-mannered siblings.

2022 Subaru Impreza Limited: luxury finishes in a 5-door

Starting at $26,395

The Subaru Impreza Limited is available only in a 5-door configuration, and it’s the only trim level in the Impreza lineup to do so. This means that if you want leather-trimmed upholstery and more of the finer things in life, including premium sound, navigation, and automatic climate control, you’re limited to a hatchback. Though, the Impreza Limited’s 55+ cubic feet of cargo space and up to 36 MPG on the highway make this a plush and versatile option.

How will you choose your new Subaru Impreza trim level?

All shoppers have their own tricks for choosing the specific trim level and model they want. Will the Subaru Impreza’s base trim low price be what captures your attention? Or will the Subaru Impreza Sport’s saucy exterior capture your heart?

Whatever new 2022 Impreza trim level fits best for you, you can plan on it lasting for miles beyond other compact cars.
