Model Y vs. Model X: Acceleration, top speed, and towing
In the United States, the 2022 Tesla Model Y offers two trims: Long Range and Performance. Both feature a dual-motor AWD system. The top speed of the Model Y is 135 mph for the Long Range trim and 155 mph for the Performance trim. For the 0-60 mph acceleration time, the Model Y Long Range achieves it in 4.8 seconds, and the Performance reaches it in 3.5 seconds.
The 2022 Tesla Model X also offers two trims: Base, with a dual-motor AWD system, and Plaid, with a tri-motor AWD system. It has a top speed of 155 mph for the Base trim and 163 mph for the Plaid trim. For the acceleration time, the Model X Base can go from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, and the Plaid achieves it in 2.5 seconds.
If you place a priority on towing, then the Model X is the best choice for you. It has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, while the Model Y can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
Model Y vs. Model X: Driving range, charging, and efficiency

The Model Y has a driving range of up to 330 miles for the Long Range trim and 303 miles for the Performance trim. Since the Model X is bigger than the Model Y, it’s unsurprising that it provides more passenger and cargo space. It offers six- and seven-passenger seating configurations and has a maximum cargo capacity of 91.6 cu-ft. In comparison, the Model Y offers five- and seven-passenger seating configurations and has a maximum cargo capacity of 76.2 cu-ft.
